No doubt, the Rt Honorable Ahmed Idris Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives template of improving on the leadership piloted by the current Speaker Rt Honorable Femi Gbajabiamiala is gradually gaining more ground and taken a positive shape with his adoption of a wider consultation and consultative approach across the country, the first in recent times.
The maiden decision to seek a wider opinion of political leaders across the six geopolitical zones including governor’s of the opposition parties has reduced the barest minimum the usual rancour and keen rivalry that was prevalent in the previous ascension since 1999.
Having possessed the leadership qualities, armed with experiences, indepth knowledge and capacity of driving the forthcoming national assembly at the level of the House of Representatives, no doubt it has opened a new babel of the sane practice of highly sought leadership maturity desiring of the green chambers.
As a strong member of the progressive caucus of the lower chamber over two decades, the new moves will lead to the emergence of a generally acceptable leadership of the House, if not a consensus one that may go down into the annals of Nigeria’s history.
With the nod and endorsement of the majority of the returning members of the lower chamber, the decisions to approach top political stakeholders had reduced the pressure, desperate tendencies and desire to assume the leadership of the green chamber.
No doubt, if the red chamber will toe the line introduced by the political sagacity of the Rt Honorable Ahmed Idris Wase towards the assumption of leadership, the open manifest, confrontation, acrimony, disagreements, fence mending that usually characterized aftermath of every four years exercise will be reduced, if not totally eliminated.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives initiatives will not only return sanity to the quest to preside over leadership of the green chamber, but had exposed his political clout , wisdom and temerity to preside over any political arrangements, not only in the national assembly, but any given opportunity and national assignments.
With a responsible and responsive leadership wisdom as demonstrated in the last four years master and subordinate disposition been practiced in the last four years with no visible rancour, no doubt the success of the 9th Assembly can only be consolidated through visible continuity and a well thought out emotions that will drive the usual vibrant house known for its pro-activeness, generally acceptable decisions and nationalistic stances.
Rt Honorable Ahmed Idris Wase is the symbol of the renewed hope to sustain the success already recorded in the previous assembly, away from the ninth assembly, but from the first to the eight assembly under review.
This is obvious with the general acceptability of the almost the whole house, the retinue of friends and colleagues among the current lawmakers who had seen a lot of potentials in his drive to preside over the 10th Assembly.
For Wase, he had possessed the qualities, temperament, status, stature, maturity as well as the needed wealth of experience for the next assignment, having been tested, trusted and positioned to deliver the uphill task of legislation, oversight functions, committees, to drive a well thought out green chamber in the next dispensation.
