2023: Abia senatorial candidate, Nnamdi Iro-Oji insists he’s unperturbed by opposition’s misleading antics.

The 2023 Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia North Senatorial district seat at the National Assembly, Hon Nnamdi Iro Oji, on Monday, vowed that no amount of propaganda and character assassination would deter him to back out from the Senatorial race ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This comes on the background of the recent attack on him by opposition elements from the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his bid to represent the Abia north senatorial zone in the senate.

Answering questions from journalists on Monday in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Monday, Iro Oji maintained that his entry into the national assembly race is hinged on the clarion call by the majority of the electorates from Abia north senatorial zone who had longed yearned for effective and responsive representation.

He explained that he consulted widely before heeding to the clarion call of the people of Abia north to seek their mandate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, in order to speak for them on the floor of the red chamber of the national assembly as they regretted that enough had been done to rewrite the narratives in representation of Abia north senatorial zone at the senate by successive occupants.

Oji who is the Chief Executive Officer of Rosy Garment and Textiles Industry, reminded the opposition parties that he owes them no apology or further explanation on the rationale behind his senatorial bid, asking them to reel out their plans for the people as electioneering campaigns now, instead of channeling their energies to frivolities and cheap propaganda for selfish personal aggrandisement.

The frontline senatorial standard-bearer, also used the medium to reassure the electorates of his unwavering commitments to facilitate and attract critical and meaningful projects towards fostering genuine human development and welfares, and as well as raising the bar in economic and Infrastructural growths of Abia north senatorial district through development-oriented bills sound lawmaking, and through oversight functions when supported to emerge as the Senator in the coming general elections in 2023 in Abia north Senatorial zone.

Oji further reiterated the readiness of the Labour Party to secure victory at all levels of political leadership positions of Abia state in the fast-approaching elections, frowned vehemently at the alleged inabilities by the Government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, and the governing All Progressives Congress in the country at large, to justify the mandates entrusted on them by the electorates, assuring electorates in the country that Labour Party will address myriads of challenges impeding economic growth and Infrastructural development of Abia, and Nigeria as a multifaceted entity when supported to emerges victorious in the 2023 elections.

According to prominent party chieftain, “as electioneering campaigns for the main elections in 2023 in Abia state and the country as a whole, we must eschew from character assassination, blackmails, cheap propaganda, and abide by the basic democratic tenets and practices, and engage in issue-based and development-oriented campaigns, to enable Abia and Nigerian electorates ascertain among the contenders for various political seats in coming general elections, who have well-defined templates in solving numerous problems lagging the state behind, and also divided the entire nation.

The foremost Abia business tycoon, applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission for its avowed commitment and recent assurance to bequeathing democratically acceptable and conclusive elections to Nigerians in 2023 and, however, expressed confidence that the new electoral amendment act will halt all forms of sharp malpractices or hitches being experienced regularly during general elections in the country.

Oji further commended the nation’s electoral umpire for the transparency and openness it has so far demonstrated, especially, its recent release of final lists of names of presidential candidates and senatorial and house of representatives candidates for the March 2023 upcoming main elections in many states in the Nigeria federation, and further expressed optimism that the electoral Commission will conduct violence free, credible and acceptable process that would reflect the general will of the Nigerian masses which as well, is shrouded on effective and responsive leadership at all stratas of the country beginning from Abia state.
