The Abia State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Don Norman Obinna, has stated that the party remains the platform that will redefine the narratives of governance in Abia if elected into power come 2023.

He regretted the deplorable state of governance in the state and grieved that the people of Abia are not riding the crest of a wave, but as the saying goes, “every cloud has a silver lining”.

Norman Obinna was speaking in a statement made available to journalists in Umuahia, on Thursday, on the preparation of the African Democratic Party ahead of the coming 2023 general elections in Abia State.

He also assured that ADC will not sabotage the 2023 aspiration of the people of Abians, as the party is poised to check the excesses of the government, provide an alternative to the people of the state, and galvanize the masses to challenge what he described as irresponsible Peoples Democratic Party-led government and her insidious policies.

According to him, “we are not here to romance the ruling party but to chase them away”.

Norman Obinna further disclosed that the party had planned to achieve it by implementing the “Not too young to Run policy, and also insisted that meaningful development becomes a mirage without the youths calling the shots.

He said, “the policy aligns with the submission of Benjamin Disraeli, the avant-garde two-time influential prime minister of the United Kingdom that defied his middle-class status at 26 to break into the British government.

“He advocated youth leadership as the panacea for good governance and the nation’s development when he said that “almost everything great has been done by youth”. To further augment his statement, he added that “the youth of a nation are the trustees of posterity”.

“In other words, ADC is the platform for the Abia youth and all progressive-minded Abians to retrieve and make Abia State great again”.

Continuing, the Abia ADC chairman regretted, “our godfathers are the battered civil servants, the raped and enslaved youth/residents and the impoverished Pensioners. Our loyalty lies with them.

“We have had the irresponsible ruling PDP bedmates masquerading as opposition political parties. Double-dealers who scream rape in the morning and go to bed at night with the same rapist. Saboteurs who took advantage of our impulses for change and good governance to make the oligarchy of a few family members stealing our commonwealth appear so powerful to unseat and disgrace out of the office”, he added.
