Progressive Youths for Development Initiative(PYfDI) , an umbrella body in fold of the governing All Progressives Congress in Nigeria, has lauded the courage demonstrated by the immediate past Minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah in pursuit of justice against open illegalities and broad daylight robbery of the mandate entrusted to him by the large population of party members and entire Abia supporters at the conducted APC gubernatorial primary election in the state last year.

The organization whose membership is drawn from184 electoral wards of the 17 local government areas in Abia state, noted that Ogah displayed true courage, character, ingenuity and resoluteness from the onset of the adjudication of the pre-primary election case to its final and recent conclusion by the supreme court of Nigeria.

This comes on the background of the purported judgement of the supreme court of Nigeria which affirmed Mr Ikechi Emenike as APC Governorship candidate in Abia state for the coming main election in march 11th this year.

However, the pro-democracy group in a statement on Tuesday by its Convener, Comrade Ndudi Maxwell Nwarukwu, also frowned vehemently unwholesome acts exhibited by some disgruntled state party leaders in collaboration with unscrupulous national officers of the APC to subvert the collective will of majority of party members who overwhelmingly and democratically elected Ogah as the major APC Gubernatorial candidate in Abia state for the coming main elections, during the concluded direct primary election approved by Senator Abdullahi Adamu led National Working Committee(NWC) of the party in Abuja for the state.

The APC youth development body regretted the deliberate treachery and open endorsement of illegalities perpetrated by a factional party chieftain from Abia state, Mr Ikechi Emenike and co-travellers in total disregard of approval and directive of the national leadership of All Progressives Congress on adoption of direct mode of election in conduct of its governorship primaries in the state.

The group expressed total disappointment on the attitude and approach of some national officers of the All Progressives Congress, wherein they deliberately denied and discarded its decision on Abia APC adoption of direct mode of primaries, and resorted to aiding and abetting Emenike to arrange a parallel governorship primary election and formally declaration of himself as the party governorship candidate in the state.

The PYfDI further posited that Emenike lacked the needed capacity and wherewithal to secure victory for the APC in the state for the coming governorship elections, insisting the factional party leader lacked the requisite electoral value hence his continued rejection at the polls by the electorates in Abia..

While emphasizing on outcome of the recently delivered verdict by the supreme court of Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday, the APC youth organization also alarmed the party is heading towards political oblivion and extinction during and after conclusion of the upcoming february 25 and march 11th, 2023 main elections across the whole states in Nigeria federation by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to the PYfDI, “the dubious and undemocratic means in which the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress foisted Ikechi Emenike on teeming large population of APC members in Abia state negated basic democratic principle and ideology. And again, it did not aligned with the current global democratic practices as being seen in full-fledged democratic climes.

“It is on record for students of history that Mr Ikechi Emenike’s penchant and idiosyncracy for political thuggery, hooliganism, cheap blackmail and propaganda, campaign of calumny and character assassination had done colossal damages on Abia APC than good. And this desperation and unholy characters continuedly being exhibited by the Abia factional party leader formed major obstacle to Emenike’s inordinate quest not to become governor of Abia state since his sojourn into the murky water of nigerian politics.”

Continuing, the Progressive Youths for Development Initiative said “it recall how Mr Ikechi Emenike with his few crops of political hirelings and lackeys induced Senator James Akpanudoehe, Secretary of the disbanded National Caretaker Executive Committee and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee chaired by Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni in compromising and mortgaging the soul of the party.

The pan-Nigerian group maintained such unwholesome act by these party leaders negates basic democratic principle and will not encourage the positive efforts of loyal and patriotic members of the All Progressives Congress in deepening its internal democracy and uphold basic democratic practices as seen in other advanced independent democratic nations in the world.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Youths for Development Initiative has lauded the display of spirit of sportsmanship by the ex-minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah shortly after the supreme court judgement purporting the immediate past Pro-chancellor and the Chairman of the Board Governing Council of University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN) in Enugu state, Chief Ikechi Emenike as APC governorship candidate in Abia state.

According to him, “such approach by Dr Uche Ogah is best described as second to none, and will remain historical in annals of Abia and Nigeria’s political developments. Ogah has always toe the rightful path of law in seeking for justice against open display of evil, illegalities, inequality and unfairness by enemies of democracy and anti democratic forces.

“You can see shortly after the apex court final ruling between him and Chief Ikechi Emenike, Ogah immediately accepted the outcome in good faith, and describe Emenike as his elder brother. But if it was Ikechi Emenike, he will not accept the judgement of the court. Emenike doesn’t want any good to come out or happen in Abia APC. He will mobilize funds and rent hoodlums to invade party secretariat and attack party leaders and members who have gathered to chart a away forward for the APC successes.

The APC youth developmental organization however used the medium to call on eligible voters in Abia state to queue behind candidates with enormous capacity and the requisite expertises to effect rapid transformation in every critical facets of the state’s economy for the good of the populaces in the state.
