Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on Friday July 29, had fruitful discussions with his brother governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom in Abuja, over the next positive moves to pacify aggrieved governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The two Democrats and leaders of Delta and Benue States politics assured Nigerians that the lingering crisis which was borne out of the just concluded presidential primary of the party shall be genuinely resolved to pave way for all stakeholders in the party to harmonise efforts to rescue Nigeria.

The two leaders emphasized the need for PDP and Nigerians to rescue the nation from total collapse, occasioned by the misrule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigeria’s Vice President in-waiting, Senator Okowa said the slight delay in the commencement of genuine reconciliation with governor Wike was as a result of his recent foreign trip, adding that concerted efforts shall be made, without delays, to resolve all grey areas now that the former presidential aspirant is back home.

“We are ready and willing to do whatever it takes legitimately to commence genuine and result oriented reconciliation with our former presidential aspirant, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike Esq of Rivers State.

“He is one of the strong pillars of our great party, PDP. The delay was as a result of his recent foreign trip.

“Gov Wike is back and we shall appeal to him to put the past behind. We shall go into the general elections more united, so as to rescue our nation from the obvious misrule of APC national government,” Okowa assured Nigerians.

On his part, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom corroborated Okowa’s assertions by saying that PDP remains one big and united family, ready to end APC’s bad governance and return Nigeria to the path of economic recovery and growth.

“Our Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Okowa, and I had fruitful discussions on the way forward over unresolved issues with governor Wike.

“Wike is a major stakeholder in our party and it is only fair for us to pacify him, and we must do so without delay.

“We also resolved to rescue our country from APC misrule and that we must do, which is why genuine reconciliation moves shall commence immediately, so that our brother governor, Wike, joins us to mobilize Nigerians for the task head.

“PDP is the only hope for Nigerians right now, and we shall partner with our people across the country to take back our country.

“We must return Nigeria to the enviable status of ‘Giant of Africa’ on the global stage,” Ortom said.
