Nasarawa Speaker reveals what the State will do to AEDC if the company fail to restore power within 14 days.

The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau has insisted that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, must quit the State if it fails to restore stable power supply within the 14 days ultimatum earlier issued by the State Assembly.

This the State Number One Lawmaker said that they are already in talking terms with alternative companies and the House will direct the state government to engage more strong electricity companies, if the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) fail to ensure constant power supply within two weeks given to it by the House.

The Speaker of the House stated this when he hosted officials of Traders and Marketers Association, Nasarawa State Chapter today in Lafia.

 

Speaker Jatau appreciated them for the visit and assured of his leadership commitment to ensure that people of the State enjoy constant power supply.

“We have directed the Abuja Electricity Power Company (AEDC) to do the needful within two weeks in order to ensure constant power supply in the State

“If nothing is done by AEDC at the end of the two weeks given to them, we will left with no option to engage more strong companies that will give our people constant power supply” he said

The Speaker told the traders that the House was determined to see improved power supply due to the suffering the people of the State are facing over poor power supply and outrageous bills.

“Our people are suffering over power black out and we will ensure that AEDC do the needful

“As Business activities cannot be effectively carried out without electricity” he said.

The State Number Three Citizen urged the traders and other people of the State to continue to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

He lauded Gov. Sule for prioritizing power supply in the State.

The Speaker assured of his intervention to address the challenges facing the association.

Earlier, Alhaji Musa Turaki Gamji, the President, Traders and Marketers Association, Nasarawa State said that the visit was to congratulate Rt. Hon. Jatau on his emergence as Speaker of the State legislature.

 

He also said that the visit was to appreciate the Speaker and members of the House for their resolution in directing AEDC to ensure improve power supply in Lafia and its environs.

Turaki Gamji further lauded Speaker Jatau over his purposeful leadership and called for its sustenance.

The Association’s President assured the Speaker of their loyalty and support to succeed.

He however appealed for the provision of rice milling machines and equipment as well as access road to Rice Mill Lafia to boost rice business in the area.
