Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, felicitates with the management and staff of Nigerian Tribune Newspapers on their 75th anniversary celebration.

A statement from the Kogi State Government House issued by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, on November 16, 2024, commended the leadership role of Nigerian Tribune Newspaper in shaping narratives and holding government accountable by promoting truth, transparency, and accountability over its more than half-century existence.

Governor Ododo honors Nigerian Tribune Newspaper’s enduring legacy, built on responsible journalism, which has won the hearts of many Nigerian readers.

The Governor explained the crucial role of responsible journalism in democracy and the rule of law, acknowledging Nigerian Tribune Newspaper’s reputation for fact-based reporting, balance, and objectivity, which contrasts with the spread of misinformation and misrepresentation by those who engage in unprofessional and unethical journalistic practices.

Ododo expressed confidence that the 75th anniversary celebration would motivate the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper to continue pursuing truth and adhering to journalistic principles, critical elements for maintaining a stable and resilient democracy in Nigeria.

Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, founded by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his wife Hannah Dideolu on November 16, 1949, has established itself as a pioneering media institution in the nation.
