The Commissioner’s reaction underscores the ongoing controversies surrounding Ogohi’s tenure and recent public comments.

The Kogi local government political leader strongly condemned Usman Ogohi, describing him as an ungrateful individual who has forgotten how he and others helped bring him into the system, despite him not being the preferred choice of Kogi youths at the time.

He stated that Ogohi was removed from his position after being found guilty of gross financial misconduct.

He emphasized that Ogohi should be in jail for looting money and items that belonged to the Kogi Youths.

“There was a serious financial misconduct allegations against Ogohi when he served as Chairman of the Kogi State NYCN.

“I understand what he is now passing through; he has been rejected even in his community and believes that his only way to rise from his shameful act is by calling my name. He is attempting to regain relevance or sympathy by involving him in his narrative amid widespread rejection and criticism.”

According to Bashir Gegu, he was inundated with calls and text messages drawing his attention to an interview given by Usman Ogohi on Cresthill TV’s YouTube channel, hosted by Deborah Agbonika, where Ogohi made some malicious allegations against him.

The Commissioner responded to these claims, defending his reputation amid the controversy surrounding Ogohi’s statements.

The Commissioner addressed some of the malicious allegations made against him by Usman Ogohi, specifically the claim that he played a significant role in his removal from the council.

Engr. Gegu refuted this accusation, stating that the frustrated and most incompetent person Kogi Youths have ever produced failed to provide any reasonable evidence to back up his claim. He emphasized that Ogohi himself admitted that he was removed from office, yet did not substantiate how Engr. Gegu was involved.

“”I’m not a member of the State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), how can I possibly do that?”

His response was to refute allegations suggesting his involvement in actions related to the removal of former NYCN chairman, Usman Ogohi, emphasizing that he has no official affiliation with the State chapter and therefore could not have influenced decisions or events within the council.”

The ousted former Kogi NYCN chairman had during the recent interview tagged “Kogi NYCN crisis” accused Bashir Gegu to have sponsored some thugs who invaded the Youth House to chase him out of the council, further claiming that one of the thugs confided in him that Engr. Gegu ordered the attack.
