Delta Set to Celebrate Oborevwori’s Three Years of Transformation
…Statewide Thanksgiving to Highlight Governor’s Development Strides and Pan-Delta Leadership
Delta State will, on Friday, May 29, 2026, celebrate the third anniversary of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration with a grand thanksgiving and praise programme scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba.
The event, officially tagged “2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day,” is being organised in recognition of what many have described as three years of purposeful leadership, political stability, inclusive governance, and significant infrastructure development across the state.
The celebration is expected to attract top government officials, members of the National Assembly, elected and appointed political office holders, party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from the three senatorial districts of Delta State and beyond.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said all arrangements had been concluded for a successful and memorable celebration worthy of the achievements recorded by the Oborevwori administration over the past three years.
According to him, the anniversary provides an opportunity for Deltans to collectively thank God for the peace, stability, progress, and development achieved under the governor’s MORE Agenda.
Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Oborevwori has continued to strengthen governance through strategic investments in road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, youth and women empowerment, rural development, environmental renewal, urban transformation, and human capital development.
Across the state, completed and ongoing projects have continued to boost public confidence in governance and infrastructure delivery. Several roads and bridges have either been completed or are nearing completion, while previously underserved communities are increasingly benefiting from direct government presence through impactful development initiatives.
Beyond infrastructure, the administration has received commendation for promoting political inclusion, peaceful coexistence, and stakeholder engagement across the three senatorial districts, further reinforcing Governor Oborevwori’s reputation as a unifying leader and governor for all Deltans.
The administration’s emphasis on continuity, prudent resource management, fiscal discipline, and people-oriented policies has also contributed significantly to growing public confidence in the direction of governance in the state.
A major highlight of the anniversary celebration will be the presence of renowned preacher and founder of Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman, who is expected to deliver the sermon during the thanksgiving service.
Widely respected for his impactful teachings and spiritual influence across Nigeria and beyond, Apostle Selman’s participation is already generating excitement among residents, political stakeholders, and members of the Christian community.
Dr. Emu noted that the celebration would not only reflect on the administration’s achievements but also reaffirm the collective commitment of Deltans to unity, development, peace, and sustainable progress under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
According to him, “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated genuine commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural transformation, and the overall wellbeing of Deltans. The third anniversary celebration is therefore a moment of thanksgiving to God and an opportunity to appreciate the visible progress recorded across the state under his purposeful and people-centred leadership.”
