The Delta State Government has announced the commencement of recruitment into the Nigerian Army 92 Regular Recruits Intake (92RRI) for eligible youths from the state.

The announcement was made through the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment in the Military and Paramilitary Services, which urged qualified Delta youths to take advantage of the recruitment opportunity.

According to the announcement, applications for both Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen and Tradesmen/Tradeswomen are to be completed online through the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal.

The application portal is recruit.army.mil.ng.

The stated application period is from September 9 to October 21, 2026.

Nigerian Army 92RRI: Basic Requirements

Applicants must meet the Nigerian Army’s prescribed requirements, including being single Nigerian citizens by birth and possessing valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) slips.

The names and dates of birth on the NIN, BVN and other credentials are required to correspond.

Applicants must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit in accordance with Nigerian Army standards and must not have been convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction.

For academic qualification, applicants are required to possess at least four passes, including English Language, in not more than two sittings in WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS.

Candidates applying as tradesmen or tradeswomen are additionally required to possess relevant Trade Test or City & Guild certificates.

Applicants must also possess a valid birth certificate endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital or local government council. A court-endorsed age declaration may also suffice.

Non-trades applicants must be between 18 and 22 years, while tradesmen and tradeswomen must not be more than 26 years by October 21, 2026.

The minimum height requirement is 1.68 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.

Candidates are required to apply using their state of origin rather than their state of residence and must possess a valid certificate of state of origin.

These requirements are also reflected on the Nigerian Army’s official 92RRI recruitment portal.

The announcement highlighted several benefits associated with military service, including career progression, regular pay and allowances, military education and specialised training.

Other benefits include opportunities for further education, social integration, access to medical care for personnel and their families, pension and gratuity upon retirement, opportunities to serve within and outside Nigeria, and post-service opportunities.

The Delta State Government said the recruitment also represents an opportunity for youths to access paid and pensionable employment as part of the state’s wealth and job creation efforts under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
