A coalition of youth support groups has reaffirmed its support for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as its preferred candidate for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election.

The coalition made the declaration on Thursday, October 1, 2026, during a press conference in Lafia to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the creation of Nasarawa State.

The event was held under the theme, “Nasarawa State at 30: The Need for Continuity, Consolidation and Sustainability of the Gains.”

The Coalition of Youth Support Group for Wadada 2027 recalled that Nasarawa State was created from the old Plateau State on October 1, 1996.

The group also paid tribute to past and present leaders of the state, including former military administrators Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim and Lt.-Col. Bala Mohammed Mande, as well as former civilian governors Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Akwe Doma and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

It also acknowledged the administration of the incumbent governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, who assumed office in 2019.

According to the coalition, it comprises about 22 youth and support groups campaigning for Senator Wadada and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group said it had established structures from the state level down to polling units, with more than 4,000 officials involved in grassroots mobilisation and community engagement.

The coalition further disclosed that it had earmarked 170 communities for engagement, with its activities targeting youth and women leaders, traditional rulers and other community stakeholders.

It said 10 communities had so far been visited as part of the initiative.

The group commended the Sule administration for what it described as efforts in investment promotion, youth opportunities, infrastructure development and fiscal management.

It specifically cited the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy, investment promotion through the Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), and major investment projects in the state.

NASIDA identifies agriculture, mining, transportation, healthcare, energy and infrastructure among the state’s investment sectors.

The coalition said continuity should involve preserving useful institutions, completing viable projects and strengthening policies that contribute to sustainable development.

It subsequently announced the re-endorsement of Senator Wadada for the 2027 governorship election.

“On behalf of the Coalition of Youth Support Group for Wadada 2027 and the leaders of young people across Nasarawa State, we hereby formally re-endorse Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu as our choice for Governor in 2027,” the statement said.

The coalition also referenced Wadada’s HEARTS Agenda, a six-point development framework covering human capital development, energy and mineral resources, agriculture and the green economy, rural and urban development, trade and investment, and security. These priorities are also outlined in Wadada’s published policy materials.

The group called on youths, women, community leaders and first-time voters to participate peacefully in the democratic process, while urging political actors to avoid intimidation, inflammatory rhetoric and division.

It said it would continue its grassroots engagements under the coordination of Comr. Jaafar Muhammad Loko.
