Obakpor Engineering chairman hails late governor’s legacy of unity, inclusion and peaceful coexistence
The Chairman of Obakpor Engineering Limited, Olorogun John Oguma, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a sad and painful loss to Delta State and Nigeria.
Uduaghan reportedly died on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71.
In a condolence statement, Oguma described the late former governor as a bridge-builder whose commitment to inclusiveness, unity and peaceful coexistence left an enduring mark on Delta State.
He noted that Uduaghan’s leadership reflected a strong belief in mutual respect and harmonious relationships among the state’s diverse ethnic nationalities.
According to him, the late governor understood that Delta State’s greatest strength lay in its ability to unite people from different ethnic, religious and political backgrounds.
Oguma said Uduaghan’s political philosophy was characterised by accommodation, relationship-building and a commitment to inclusive governance.
“Uduaghan’s political disposition reflected a commitment to accommodation, relationship-building and the recognition that effective governance must create room for people across ethnic, religious and political divides,” he said.
Beyond his years in public office, Oguma observed that the former governor made meaningful contributions to the lives of individuals and communities through personal relationships, acts of kindness, opportunities extended to others and the bridges he built across different segments of society.
He stressed that Uduaghan’s influence extended beyond official responsibilities, noting that his personal connections and interactions with people formed an important part of his legacy.
Oguma described the former governor’s death as a painful loss, extending his condolences to the bereaved family, the Delta State Government, the Itsekiri nation, the people of Ubiaja in Edo State, and the late governor’s political associates and admirers.
He also commiserated with the people of Ubiaja, identified in the statement as Uduaghan’s maternal community, and all those mourning his passing.
The Obakpor Engineering chairman prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family, friends and other mourners the strength to endure the loss.
“Your legacy of inclusion, respect and human connection will remain a part of the story of Delta State and the communities whose lives you touched,” the statement said.
Uduaghan’s death has prompted tributes highlighting his contributions to public service, inter-ethnic relations and political engagement in Delta State.
