Plot to Pitch Yahaya Bello Against Tinubu Using Protest in Kogi Exposed

A Public Affairs Analyst Mr. Obaje Simon has uncovered a nefarious plan by the Kogi State Social Democratic Party (SDP) aimed at creating a false conflict between former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Mr. Obaje, the SDP in Kogi State is orchestrating protests in Kogi State designed to falsely implicate Bello as the instigator. This strategy, he described, is a wicked and cunning maneuver intended to drive a wedge between President Tinubu and the former Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Mr. Obaje, in a statement made available to the media in Lokoja on Tuesday, revealed that the SDP’s scheme involves organizing protests and making it appear as though Yahaya Bello is behind them. He criticized this tactic as not only malicious but also revealing the SDP’s own childishness and desperation. “The SDP’s move is so transparently duplicitous that they have inadvertently exposed themselves by publicizing their own strategy,” Mr. Obaje remarked.

Highlighting Yahaya Bello’s political loyalty, Mr. Obaje emphasized that Bello has remained a steadfast supporter of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). This loyalty, he noted, was a critical factor in the overwhelming victory that Tinubu achieved in Kogi State during the last presidential election.

The SDP’s allegations, outlined by Isaiah Davies Ijele, Director of New Media and Spokesperson for the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, claimed that Bello and his successor, Governor Usman Ododo, were planning to incite chaos and attribute these actions to Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP. However, Mr. Obaje further disclosed that reliable sources have informed stakeholders that SDP have arranged T-shirts, caps, and other protest materials to cause chaos and disrupt the peace enjoyed in Kogi State, dismissing their claims as baseless.

According to him, the SDP’s plans to stage protests were not only malicious but also self-defeating, as the party inadvertently revealed its own duplicity. “Yahaya Bello has been a loyal party man, dedicated to the success of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). His unwavering support was a significant factor in delivering an overwhelming victory for Tinubu in the last presidential election in Kogi State,” Obaje said.

Mr. Obaje further criticized the SDP’s claims of upholding principles of lawfulness and non-violence as hypocritical, given their exposed plans to incite disorder. “The SDP’s statement is nothing but a smear campaign designed to undermine the integrity and unity of our state and nation,” he added.

He called on the public to disregard the SDP’s false statements and urged the government and relevant authorities to investigate the SDP’s actions. He emphasized Yahaya Bello’s commitment to the rule of law, peaceful coexistence, and the continued progress of Kogi State and Nigeria, citing Bello’s exemplary record as governor.

Additionally, Mr. Obaje pointed out that any right-thinking member of the public would recognize that Kogi State has no reason to join in the protest, given Governor Ododo’s proactive measures to cushion the economic impact on the people. He noted that local government workers, pensioners, and state employees are not owed any salaries, with payments being made promptly. Moreover, the governor has implemented several palliative measures and welfare schemes to support the people of Kogi State.
