Ramadan: Ododo Urges Patience, Sacrifice and Compassion

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has emphasized the importance of Muslims embracing the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and compassion during Ramadan. He highlighted that these values should extend beyond the fasting period, promoting unity and support for the less privileged.

This aligns with his broader efforts to foster a sense of community and inclusivity in Kogi State, as seen in his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, security, and economic initiatives.

In a statement issued by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, dated 1st March, 2025, the Governor, in his message to the people of the state, described the month of Ramadan as a sacred time for reflection on the goodness of Allah, devotion to worship and self-discipline.

“Ramadan is a sacred period of introspection, dedication, and self-control, serving as a reminder of the importance of patience, sacrifice, and generosity, values that fortify our faith and cultivate a spirit of compassion for the less fortunate,” he said.

He advised the people of the state to promote love, peace, mutual respect, and understanding, which would contribute to the state’s development regardless of variations in faith.

Governor Ododo urged the people to utilize the Ramadan fasting period as an opportunity to fortify their communal bonds and collaborate towards the sustained advancement and unity of the state.

According to Governor Ododo:
“During this Holy Month, I encourage all citizens of Kogi State, regardless of faith, to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and mutual respect that Ramadan represents. Let us use this opportunity to strengthen our bonds as a people and work together for the continued progress and unity of our dear state.”

While encouraging the people of the state to show compassion to the less privileged, promote justice and foster harmony within communities, he urged Muslims to dedicate the Ramadan period to fervent prayers for the peace, security, and development of Kogi State and Nigeria.
