NYAN Lauds Gov Sule over rustication of Students from NSUK

The Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his intervention regarding the rustication of students from Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

NYAN praised Governor Sule’s call for forgiveness and reconciliation towards the protesting students, highlighting his commitment to youth welfare and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the state.

The group describes Governor Sule’s efforts to support NSUK students, including his prompt response to security challenges and his administration’s focus on student safety and welfare as best for the State.

Governor Sule’s administration is recognized for creating jobs, supporting student welfare, and maintaining peace, which aligns with the praise from youth groups like NYAN for his proactive and youth-focused governance

The Assembly praised the Governor for exemplifying a “fatherly role” by appealing to the university management to reconsider its decision.

According to a statement released by Rt. Hon. I. M. Lawal (Dubagari Jnr), Speaker of NYAN, Governor Sule’s actions reflect a “proactive government built on the empathy of citizens and the masses.

The Assembly expressed its satisfaction with the Governor’s appeal to the NSUK management to reinstate the students, who were rusticated following a threatened protest and other actions deemed unethical by the university.

Gov Sule not only demonstrated his role as a father but also as a leader with a conscience who prioritizes the interests of students,

the statement read. “We will continue to support his administration’s policies aimed at fostering peace and harmony, not only on campus but throughout the state and the North Central region.

Governor Sule made the appeal on Tuesday during the first anniversary celebration of NSUK’s first female Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, He urged the university management, led by Professor Sa’adatu, to review the penalties imposed on the students and allow them to resume their academic activities.

The affected students were reportedly rusticated for the 2024/2025 academic session for allegedly planning a peaceful protest via WhatsApp, a social media platform, against what they considered exorbitant fees for the newly introduced third semesters.
