The Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor, has expressed his readiness to partner with the Urhobo Ex-Militants Forum under the Presidential Amnesty Programme. This declaration came during a courtesy and solidarity visit by the executive members of the Forum to his office in Warri.

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Urhobo Ex-Militants Forum and Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Security, Hon. Chief Ese Arigo, expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner for the warm reception. He pledged the Forum’s total loyalty and support to the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevori and appealed for empowerment opportunities for members of the group through the good office of the Honourable Commissioner For Oil and Gas.

Hon Chief Ese Arigo emphasized the importance of inclusion and sustainable engagement for the Ex-Militants, noting that such empowerment would go a long way in ensuring peace, stability, and continued development within the oil-producing communities.

In his response, Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor , the Hon Commissioner For Oil and Gas acknowledged the significance of the visit and reiterated the need to support and uplift the Ex-Militants, whom he described as vital stakeholders in the region.

“Ex-militants are our children. They are part of our community and our society,” he stated. “Beyond politics, I am a philanthropist, and when I received the notification of your visit, I welcomed it wholeheartedly.”

He went further to acknowledge the group’s consistent support, especially during his two terms in the Delta State House of Assembly. He stressed that as a grassroots politician, every electorate matters, and the Ex-Militants have always played an essential role in mobilization and community engagement.

“For the two times I went to the House of Assembly, the Ex-Militants gave me their total support,” he noted. “So I cannot distance myself from your Forum, especially as you have come today in solidarity.”

Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor assured the Forum that the Ministry of Oil and Gas, under his leadership, would work closely with the group to identify areas of collaboration that align with the MORE Agenda of the current administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He concluded by saying that empowering youths, particularly those who have embraced peace and reintegration, remains a priority in ensuring sustainable development across Delta State’s oil-producing communities.
