By Yahaya Idris, Lafia
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State chapter under the leadership of Comr. Muhammad Ja’afar Loko is engaging youth groups supporting gubernatorial aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.
Some of youth groups he met on Tuesday including the Sadauki Youth Alliance (SYA) backing Hon Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba and the Dr. Faisal Shuaib (DFS) Concern Youth supporting Dr. Faisal Shuaibu.
Comr. Loko disclosed that the engagement is part of NYCN’s efforts to encourage youth participation, solidarity, and political involvement in the elections, particularly focusing on youth leadership development in Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
He said the council under his leadership is mobilising youths in support of political processes, including backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections, to promote youth empowerment and continuity in leadership development.
The NYCN boss emphasizes peace, unity, and youth inclusiveness in governance and political participation as keys to national progress.
“As the state Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, I emphasized that youths are the backbone of every society and pillars of every political process. They should continue to participate actively and encourage others to join in the political processes and governance.”
“I urged the two groups to regard themselves as brothers’ keepers rather than enemies of supporters of other aspirants. I reminded them of the virtues of humility, kindness, tolerance, understanding, intelligence, and love for people, which both Dr. Faisal and Hon. Nalaraba embody.”
“I encouraged them to emulate and adopt these values in their speeches and actions. Decorum, civility, and respect should guide all their engagements. I also cautioned them against rancor, vulgar language, and unguided utterances on social media and beyond.”
“I encouraged the leadership of both DFS Concern Youth and Sadauki Youth Alliance to support the present administration’s efforts towards sustainable peace and development in the state, and to promote peace, stability, and harmonious coexistence.”
As development cannot occur without peace, and politics cannot succeed in a rancorous atmosphere. In conclusion, I expressed gratitude to our hosts for their warm reception and hospitality, and requested them to extend the Council’s gratitude to their principals for their recent interactive session, cash donation, and pledge for a vehicle.
The engagement will continue with youth support groups of other gubernatorial aspirants in the state.
