Benin Club Golf Scandal: Barr. Usoh Caught in Tangled Web of Lies, Corruption, Fraud, Forgery
By Obazee Ikpomwosa
For a while now, the Benin Club Golf Section is ensnared in a web of lies, corruption, fraud and forgery. The man in the middle of the shame is no other person than Pastor (Barr.) Emmanuel Usoh. Although he has several other gang members that this news will reveal.

The caricature committee established by the Captain of BCGS has determined that the allegations against Emmanuel Usoh concerning the Sienna are unfounded and politically motivated. This is not only laughable, it is a lie from the pit of hell. All evidence shows the allegations are true.
Edo politics: The tribal smear of Okpebholo and his government
However, it has come to light that both the former Captain and the then Treasurer, (Emmanuel Usoh), authorized a cheque in the name of the club’s accountant for services that were supposed to be rendered by another individual. Additionally, the accountant disbursed funds prior to the time Usoh asserted that the vehicle was repaired.
It raises the question as to why the cheque was not issued in the name of the person responsible for doing the job. Given the circumstances, there appears to be a case for financial misappropriation.
During his tenure as Treasurer, Usoh directed that payments be made to the personal account of the accountant. This situation presents further concerns regarding financial misappropriation, particularly since Usoh continues to influence expenditures from a personal account. As a lawyer, Usoh cannot claim ignorance of the legal implications involved in these transactions.
Furthermore, Usoh has submitted receipts that do not align with the total amount disbursed. The receipts account for one million, nine hundred thousand Naira only, whereas the total amount disbursed was three million, five hundred thousand Naira only, indicating a significant discrepancy.
In the shady deals surrounding the Sienna repairs, it came to light that Mr. Zika, Usoh’s driver, who was responsible for the vehicle maintenance, provided the police with original receipts along with a sworn affidavit confirming their authenticity. These receipts differ significantly from those submitted by Usoh, who’s documentation raises questions regarding its legitimacy.
Evidence indicates that money was sent to Mr. Zika through a bank transfer, substantiated by the corresponding transaction records. In contrast, the individual who issued receipts for Usoh claimed to have received cash payments, which are inherently untraceable. This disparity could suggest a deliberate attempt to mislead, as the committee cannot overlook the fact that Usoh appears to have submitted false documents and is deeply entangled in the Sienna incident.
The committee, chaired by Lawson Ugiagbe, a former president of the Benin Club, along with Mayer Ologbosere, a past captain of the golf section, and Barr. Reuben Mgbodi, among others, seems to lack the fortitude necessary to pursue this matter independently of the Executive Committee of the BCGS.
Criticism arosed regarding the Captain’s decision to appoint a committee composed of individuals perceived to be less than impartial, raising concerns about the committee’s integrity and its ability to act without bias.
The concern was that if Usoh is found guilty, he might pull the Captain down with him, given his history of betrayal. He had previously betrayed both Godwin Obaseki and Oseni Elamah, this facts are known to the public.
Sadly, Pastor Usoh also turned his back on the sanctity of marriage by having an affair with one of the stewards in the golf section, and even impregnated her (name remains confidential for privacy reasons) Reports have it that he attempted to cover up his actions by paying the steward to terminate the pregnancy. This irresponsible behaviour, coupled with his reluctance to face the consequences, speaks volumes about his character. It’s no surprise that his marriage is currently in turmoil!
These developments underscore the need for a thorough and transparent review process to ensure justice is served and trust is restored within the club.
The suspension of AVM Aliyu is a decision that many view as a significant misstep by the Captain. It raises questions as to why an individual who unveiled the Sienna fraud would face such repercussions. This action appears to have instilled a sense of fear among members, discouraging them from voicing their concerns.
The underlying reasoning is evident: any perceived dissent is met with suspension, a punitive measure that effectively silences opposition for a period of two years, barring individuals from contesting any positions during that time.
Furthermore, there are increasing concerns regarding the authenticity of the Captain’s signature. It has come to light that Usoh has been signing documents on behalf of the Captain, creating an impression of legitimacy while undermining the integrity of the process. In an era characterized by advanced technology, it begs the question: why wouldn’t the Captain utilize his phone to sign documents personally? Allowing others to forge his signature, particularly by Usoh and Victor, the Vice Captain, raises significant ethical concerns.
The suspension letter for AVM was signed by Usoh, as was the letter that directed Usoh to provide an account of the Sienna funds. This situation is troubling, as it implies that Usoh is not only drafting correspondence to himself but also signing it under the guise of the Captain (Ebere). This lack of transparency is alarming.
The report on the s
Sienna that Usoh wrote and submitted to the general house on the WhatsApp platform was never signed.
But it is concerning that the report submitted by Usoh to the committee investigating the Sienna scandal carried his signature. While the committee was made aware of the discrepancies within Usoh’s report, it appears they chose to overlook these issues, despite the evidence suggesting that the submitted report was manipulated.
This pattern of behaviour calls for thorough examination and accountability, as it undermines the principles of transparency and integrity that are essential for the club’s credibility.
Do we still have a Captain?
This question led to the suspension of Efosa Iyamu for 21 days. The suspension raises pressing questions about the current leadership at the BCGS and the effectiveness of our Captain, Steve Ebarentonbofa. The inquiry posed by Iyamu highlights a growing concern about the apparent abuse of power within the club, particularly Barr. Emmanuel Usoh and Barr. Victor Oriasotie. Their actions have led to considerable tension and have undermined the Captain’s ability to lead effectively.
For the first time in BCGS’s history, there are negative perceptions circulating about our club on social media, which is disheartening for members who value its legacy.
The leadership under Captain Ebarentonbofa, paired with claims of financially imprudent behaviour, raises serious concerns. As someone responsible for guiding the BCGS, it is disappointing to see allegations suggesting that the Captain is more focused on personal indulgence rather than the club’s well-being.
From reliable sources, there are underlying issues related to the Captain’s personal affairs that could be influencing his judgment. Reports indicate that he may be facing financial challenges that have led to questionable practices regarding club funds. Furthermore, the abrupt relocation of his family to Canada amid suspicions of alleged financial misconduct by his wife at her place of work (Etisalat ) raises serious ethical concerns about his leadership stability. In order to evade the long arm of the law, Steve had to swiftly arrange for her to be sent out of the country.
Meanwhile, the individuals who lent him money to expedite the travel process are still pursuing him for repayment of the debts he owes them.
Steve’s reckless lifestyle has become common knowledge; he’s draining the club’s resources while indulging in high-quality whisky and other premium drinks.
Dr. Nonso, the house officer, discovered outstanding bills related to Steve, his vice Victor Oriasotie, and Secretary Emmanuel Usoh.
To avoid being exposed, the three of them orchestrated a scheme that led to Nonso’s suspension pending expulsion, fabricating lies to pin the blame on him. The actions taken against Nonso appear to reflect an environment of fear and retribution that discourages open dialogue about the club’s financial health and governance.
Steve is obsessed with his alcohol and will go to great lengths to satisfy his drinking habits.
As Captain, Ebarentonbofa’s decision to seek a second term is particularly contentious, especially since he previously committed to serving only one term. The morale among club members indicates a growing discontent with his leadership. Many feel that a second term would not be warranted given the current state of affairs.
Serving as captain for two consecutive terms is acceptable, provided that the individual has demonstrated effective leadership and garnered the support of the members.
However, in this case, it appears that there is significant background opposition to Steve Ebarentonfa’s return but no one is bold enough to speak out.
His previous tenure is widely regarded as the darkest periods in BCGS’s history, and many members have expressed concerns regarding his leadership style. Furthermore, it has come to light that those who voiced their dissent towards his management style and exco members have faced disciplinary actions, which raises serious ethical questions about his leadership. It is essential for any leader to be aware of the prevailing sentiments within an organization and to approach their position with humility and an openness to feedback.
The Vice Captain.
Victor Oriasotie, the current Vice Captain, recently faced challenges in his aspirations to become the Captain of BCGS. Just two months ago, he displayed enthusiasm for the role, publicly honouring and paying homage to empty chairs in a gesture of respect for what he hoped would be his smooth transition into leadership position of BCGS. However, Steve, has presented formidable roadblock, potentially jeopardizing Victor’s prospects for the captaincy.
It appears that Victor’s ambition may be further hindered by his troubling behaviour and views regarding women. Reports suggest that he frequently engages with women inappropriately, regardless of their marital status, background, or profession. This pattern of behaviour raises serious concerns regarding his respect for women and suggests deeper issues with misogyny.
An audio recording has come to our attention, which indicates a disturbing disregard for women. It is difficult to comprehend how any man could express such callous sentiments to a former or current partner, especially when considering the impact on the women involved.
Moreover, alarming accusations have surfaced regarding Victor’s treatment of women. We possess a video that depicts a grave incident involving a bar attendant, whom he allegedly strangled nearly to the point of unconsciousness. The distressing situation prompted the bar attendant who was then live-in partner to seek safety and support, sharing her ordeal with us in a plea for assistance.
These incidents underline the necessity for a critical examination of Victor Oriasotie’s actions and the potential impact of his behavior on the club . It is essential to foster an environment of respect and equality, where all individuals feel safe and valued.
It has come to our attention that the wife in South Africa is allegedly under police protection, and Victor’s visitations are being closely monitored.
There seems to be a trend among certain individuals, particularly those of shorter stature, to exhibit a sense of boastfulness.
Victor has been heard making grand claims on multiple occasions about how, as Captain of BCGS, he intends to dismiss certain members such as Otabor, SOJ, Ogbeni, Eromon, and Osayi, referring to them as “jobless noisemakers” who are unwelcome in the club. He has even threatened to revoke the memberships of Aso Rock members who might not support him in the election when he thought he was going to run as captain .
This raises a question: is every member of the IBB Golf Club an active golfer? Or every member of the UBTH Golf Club?
It’s essential to remind Victor, as a lawyer, that trying to enforce his ideals on BCGS members may not yield the results he hopes for. The members are discerning individuals and cannot be easily swayed by superficial gestures.
Additionally, it may be beneficial for Victor to consider personal hygiene, as reports suggest that his breath is an issue for some club members, especially women, who prefer to maintain their distance—even on the dance floor. Perhaps a thoughtful investment in oral care would enhance his social interactions at the club.
It may be time for Barrister Victor Oriasotie to reflect on his conduct and take proactive steps to mend relationships with those he may have offended, acknowledging that he is not superior to his peers.
These three Musketeers will continue to lead BCGS for another 365 days in 2026, having strategically maneuvered to suspend those who might have challenged their positions.
It’s truly disheartening to witness such a sham of governance within the BCGS committee.
