Appeal to INEC: Update LP Portal to reflect expired tenures of former NWC members, including National Treasurer — Oluchi OparahÂ
…..CTC Confirms Federal High Court Reaffirmation of Supreme Court Verdict of April 4, 2025
By Yahaya Idris, Abuja
The recent release of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Federal High Court judgment has brought welcome clarity to ongoing discussions within the Labour Party, dispelling lingering speculations and varied interpretations that have clouded the leadership matter. Far from introducing any new or contradictory ruling, the court has faithfully upheld and given practical effect to the enduring judgment of the Supreme Court handed down on April 4, 2025, a decision renowned for its wisdom and precision on Labour Party affairs.
This ruling remains straightforward and illuminating, definitively resolving the party’s leadership structure while outlining clear directives for all involved parties and institutions to follow in the spirit of unity and progress.

Now that this judicial position stands affirmed and accessible to all, it presents a timely opportunity for Labour Party stakeholders to come together in aligning their efforts with the law’s clear guidance.
The foundation for discord, competing assertions, or overly expansive readings of the verdict has been firmly set aside, paving the way for collective adherence to what the courts have so plainly articulated.
On a personal note, I, Oluchi Oparah, wish to affirm that I have honourably completed my tenure as National Treasurer of the Labour Party, in the same manner as Mr. Julius Abure and fellow members of the former National Working Committee whose terms concluded as per constitutional provisions.
This has been my consistent stance, one I hold with conviction and respect for the party’s processes.
In light of this shared reality, it is constructive to note that references to myself and other former NWC members as current executives do not align with the prevailing legal and constitutional framework, a gentle reminder of the value in timely institutional updates to reflect these changes.
This aligns seamlessly with the expectations placed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), our esteemed regulator of political parties, to facilitate such adjustments in a spirit of partnership.
INEC is respectfully encouraged to update its website and official records by reflecting the conclusion of tenures for myself, Mr. Julius Abure, and others, while incorporating the leadership of Distinguished Senator Esther Nenadi Usman as the recognised National Chairman of the Labour Party and her legitimate National Working Committee.
INEC is also invited to extend to Senator Nenadi Usman and Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwokocha the full measure of rights, recognition, and privileges due their offices, in full harmony with the court’s directives—mirroring the gracious recognition previously granted to prior structures under similar legal imperatives.
As we stand at this pivotal moment, let us collectively embrace a transition from past delays to prompt compliance, from division to cohesion, and from individual perspectives to the greater good of institutional strength.
The judiciary has provided exemplary leadership through its rulings; it is now a shared responsibility for authorities like INEC and all party members to advance this legacy of order.
The rule of law guides us with unmistakable clarity.
Together, through obedience, accountability, and honouring due process, we can build a stronger future.
Labour Party!
Forward Ever!!
Backward Never!!!
