IPPSM Endorses Inko-Tariah, Joy Nunieh as Ijaw Candidates for Rivers 2027 Guber Race under ADC

The Ijaw People’s Political Survival Movement (IPPSM) yesterday endorsed Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) as the Ijaw ethnic nationality’s choice for Rivers State governor in the 2027 elections on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group also picked Joy Yimebe Nunieh, former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as his running mate for deputy governor.

Push for Eight-Year Ijaw TenureThe endorsement, announced in Port Harcourt, seeks to consolidate an eight-year leadership slot for the Ijaw people in Rivers State, building on the ongoing first term of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

IPPSM described Fubara, an Ijaw indigene elected in 2023, as representing the initial four years of this “mandate.” It warned that denying him a second term amid reported crises within the All Progressives Congress (APC) involving pro-Wike elements would undermine ethnic equity.

Inko-Tariah: Youth Leader with Proven RecordTom Inko-Tariah, a chartered arbitrator, Fellow of the Institute of Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Nigeria (FIADRN), and youth leader from Ijaw heartland, emerged after consultations with elders, youth, women groups, and stakeholders.

The group praised his achievements in community development, economic empowerment, and youth advocacy, saying he is poised to build on Fubara’s strides in infrastructure, education, and security.

 

Nunieh: Anti-Corruption ChampionJoy Yimebe Nunieh, a lawyer, public servant, and Ogoni leader, is celebrated for her principled stance, anti-corruption fights, cultural promotion, and empowerment of Niger Delta women.

“We the Ijaws have great trust in her abilities and capabilities,” IPPSM declared, noting her role in exposing graft and promoting transparency to support Inko-Tariah’s vision for accountability, women’s upliftment, and sustainable growth.

Call for Unity, Free Elections:

National Coordinator, Chief Jackson Dagogo Jack, stated: “IPPSM stands firm in its commitment to political survival and equity for the Ijaw nation.”He described the duo as the “fresh, dynamic” team to fulfil the Ijaw mandate and deliver progress, urging all patriotic Rivers indigenes to support them under ADC, a party rooted in progressive ideals and grassroots democracy.

IPPSM called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and judiciary to guarantee a level playing field devoid of intimidation.
