Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, immediate past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, alongside several serving and former lawmakers as well as senior government officials, are currently in the holy land of Saudi Arabia performing Umrah, the lesser Hajj.

The prominent Nasarawa citizens arrived earlier this week on Monday and have since Tuesday been immersed in a series of spiritual exercises, fulfilling key religious obligations that draw Muslims from across the globe to Mecca and Medina.

This pilgrimage, known as Umrah, offers believers an opportunity for profound devotion outside the mandatory annual Hajj, typically spanning a week or more as pilgrims visit the sacred sites for prayers, circumambulation of the Kaaba, and other rites that renew faith and seek divine mercy.

The timing of this visit holds immense significance, especially as it coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, a period of heightened spirituality, fasting, and supplication for Muslims worldwide.

Umrah during Ramadan is particularly revered in Islamic tradition, believed to carry extra blessings equivalent to performing the greater Hajj alongside the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), multiplying the spiritual rewards for those who undertake it.

For Nasarawa State, grappling with the need for peace, unity, and understanding ahead of upcoming elections, the presence of these leaders in the holy land underscores a collective call for divine intervention.

Many affluent Muslims prioritize this pilgrimage in Ramadan to maximize its absolute rewards, turning it into a beacon of hope and intercession for their communities back home.
