PAAU Senate, Congregation Elect Council Representatives

The Senate and Congregation of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, have elected their respective representatives into the institution’s reconstituted Governing Council.
In a statement issued on Friday by Uredo Omale (Mrs), Public Relations Officer, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, the elections were conducted during separate emergency meetings held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the University Auditorium.
At the Senate meeting, four academics were unanimously elected to represent the body on the Council.
They are Professor Sani Momoh of the Department of Biochemistry and current Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies; Professor Taiye Oluwagbemi of the Department of Forestry; Professor M.B.S. Jibrin, Head of the Department of English and Literary Studies; and Professor Victoria Anum, Head of the Department of Broadcasting.
Professor Momoh brings extensive experience in university administration, having served twice as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and as a two-time branch chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Professor Oluwagbemi is a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, noted for his administrative contributions.
Professor Jibrin previously served as Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, while Professor Anum is widely regarded as an accomplished academic and administrator.
Similarly, the University Congregation elected two representatives during its emergency session.
They are Comrade Solomon Alfa of the University Clinic, a former Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and Dr. Anne Oyewole, Head of the Department of History and International Studies.
Meanwhile, the Ahmed Usman Ododo, had earlier approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu of Federal University Lokoja as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council.
Professor Audu, a former staff member of the university, is noted for his deep institutional knowledge, having previously served as a member of the Governing Council, Senate, and in several administrative roles. At Federal University Lokoja, he served as a two-term Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs, and Head of the Department of History and International Studies.
Also part of the Council is the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who rose through the ranks at the institution and previously served as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, where he recorded notable achievements.
With the composition of the new Governing Council, expectations are high within the university community that strengthened collaboration between the Council and Management will drive progress in academic excellence, infrastructure development, staff and student welfare, and institutional discipline.
The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Management, congratulated the newly elected and appointed members, urging them to leverage their experience in advancing the university in line with the education-focused vision of the state government.
