Suspect Confesses Role in Attack on Brig.-Gen. Braimah, Says He Was Arrested on Food Procurement Mission
A suspected terrorist, Tijjani, has confessed to participating in the deadly attack that claimed the life of Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah and three other soldiers at a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State.
According to a report by TheCable on Monday, April 13, 2026, the suspect was apprehended by troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
Tijjani disclosed that he and other members of the terrorist group departed from Jilli village to carry out the assault in Benisheikh, after which they returned to their base in Jilli.
He further revealed that he was subsequently assigned to procure food supplies and was given the sum of ₦850,000 for the task.
Tijjani stated that he was en route to Ngamdu village to purchase the items when he was intercepted and arrested by Nigerian troops.
The suspect added that he has no knowledge of the fate or whereabouts of his accomplices who remained in Jilli village after his departure.
“Before the attack, we came from Jilli and returned there afterward. I was sent from Jilli yesterday with ₦850,000 to collect some logistics from Ngamdu, but I was arrested by troops,” he said.
