Chairman of the Idris HK Foundation, Alhaji Idris Hussein Kashim, has released another tranche of payment in the ongoing settlement of a scholarship scheme valued at over ₦7 million for students of Kogi State College of Education (KSCOE), Ankpa.
The latest disbursement of ₦1 million, made on April 22, 2026, was transferred to the institution’s consultancy account, KSCOE Ankpa Consultancy Services Ltd, as part of the sustained funding of the education support initiative.
The scholarship programme, which targets 50 students, was instituted to cover tuition and accommodation throughout the beneficiaries’ Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme, from their first year through graduation.
Findings from the college bursary indicate that each beneficiary attracts an annual support of ₦51,500, bringing the total commitment for the three-year programme to over ₦7 million.
The initiative, largely benefiting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across various local government areas of Kogi State, has been described as a critical intervention in easing access to education.
In a letter dated November 3, 2025, the Provost of the institution, Dr. Fashagba Paul Femi, commended the donor for the gesture, noting that the scholarship has significantly reduced the financial burden on beneficiaries and enabled them to focus on their studies.
According to the Provost, beyond financial assistance, the scheme serves as a source of motivation for the students to strive for academic excellence and responsible citizenship.
The beneficiaries are drawn from multiple departments, including Business Education, Agricultural Education, Home Economics, Political Science, Economics, Biology, Technical Education, Arabic and Social Studies.
They also cut across several local government areas such as Ankpa, Dekina, Omala, Ofu, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Olamaboro, Bassa and Ibaji.

Observers note that the continued release of funds underscores Idris’ sustained commitment to education and youth empowerment in Kogi State.
The philanthropist, known for his longstanding humanitarian efforts, has supported various community-based initiatives, including livelihood assistance for commercial motorcycle riders in Okene, Kogi Central.
Stakeholders maintain that the scholarship scheme remains a vital support system for indigent students, ensuring they complete their academic programmes without financial hindrance.
