Nasarawa South Youth Coalition Endorses Akabe for 2027 Senate Race
A coalition of youth groups in Nasarawa South Senatorial District has formally endorsed the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
Abimiku Dangana Solomon, Azige Louis, and Musa Salisu Ibrahim on behalf of the Coalition of Youth Groups from Nasarawa South., said the endorsement was announced at a press conference held by the group, where it said the decision followed extensive consultations, assessment of the political landscape, and evaluation of leadership qualities required to advance the district’s development.
According to the coalition, the endorsement reflects the aspirations of young people in Nasarawa South for credible leadership, sustainable growth, and effective representation at the National Assembly.
The group described Dr. Akabe as a seasoned professional and public servant with a track record of service, noting his career progression from the medical field to governance. It highlighted his roles in the health sector, including his tenure at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital and the National Hospital, Abuja, as well as leadership positions within the Nigerian Medical Association.
The coalition further cited his service as Commissioner for Health in Nasarawa State between 2012 and 2019, during which it said he spearheaded key reforms, including the construction of three general hospitals to ease pressure on specialist facilities in the state.
His role in strengthening healthcare responses during public health emergencies such as Ebola, Lassa fever, and COVID-19 was also acknowledged.
Since assuming office as Deputy Governor in 2019, the group said Dr. Akabe has continued to demonstrate loyalty, administrative competence, and commitment to the state’s development, adding that his appointment to a national environmental council underscores his capacity and recognition at the federal level.
The youth coalition maintained that Dr. Akabe possesses a deep understanding of the needs of Nasarawa South, alongside a technocratic approach to governance and a disposition that encourages youth inclusion and participation.
It urged stakeholders and residents of the senatorial district, particularly young people, to rally behind his candidacy, describing it as a pathway to greater opportunities and development for the area.
The group also called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support his ambition, stating that he has the experience and credibility to represent the district effectively in the Senate.
As part of its mobilisation strategy, the coalition announced plans to tour the five local government areas in Nasarawa South to galvanise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE: ENDORSEMENT OF DR. EMMANUEL AGBADU AKABE FOR SENATE, NASARAWA SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT 2027 BY COALITION OF YOUTH GROUPS IN NASARAWA SOUTHERN SENATORIAL DISTRICT
Good morning, distinguished members of the press, esteemed youth leaders, and fellow citizens of Nasarawa South. We, the Coalition of Youth Groups from Nasarawa South, have convened this press conference today to make a profound declaration regarding the political future of our beloved Senatorial District.
After extensive deliberations, deep consultations, careful consideration of the political landscape, and a thorough assessment of leadership qualities, we unequivocally affirm our unwavering support and endorsement of His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, the current Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, for the Nasarawa South Senatorial District seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Our decision is not merely a political statement; it is a reflection of the collective aspirations of the youths in Nasarawa South for visionary leadership, sustainable development, and effective representation. We believe that Dr. Akabe embodies the Qualities necessary to elevate our constituency to unprecedented heights.
Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe is a man of exceptional character, intellect, and proven capacity. His journey, from a distinguished medical professional to a seasoned public servant, is a testament to his dedication and commitment to service. His expertise in medicine saw him coordinate various sections in the Medical Department, including serving as Head of the Ophthalmology Department at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and as a pioneer Head of Ophthalmology at the National Hospital, Abuja.
Beyond his medical prowess, Dr. Akabe has demonstrated remarkable administrative and leadership skills. He served as the Sole Administrator of Plateau’s Hospital, Jos. He held numerous positions within the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), culminating in his election as Secretary and Chairman for two terms in the Plateau State branch, and National Assistant Secretary General.
His transition into public service saw him serve meritoriously as the Honourable Commissioner of Health in Nasarawa State from 2012 to 2019. During this period, he spearheaded significant reforms in the health sector, including the approval and construction of three General Hospitals worth 2.5 billion Naira, aimed at decongesting the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia. He was instrumental in revitalizing the state’s healthcare system, ensuring the health of citizens during epidemics like Ebola, Lassa fever, and COVID-19. His efforts ensured that both public and private sector healthcare systems were strengthened with modern facilities.
As the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State since May 29, 2019, Dr. Akabe has continued to exhibit exemplary leadership, loyalty, and support to the Governor, contributing significantly to the state’s progress and stability. His recent appointment as a member of the National Flood, Erosion, Drought, and Desertification Council further underscores his national recognition and capacity to handle critical issues.
Dr. Akabe’s contributions to Nasarawa South are not just theoretical; they are tangible and impactful. His tenure as Commissioner of Health directly benefited the people of Nasarawa South through improved healthcare infrastructure and services. His commitment to the welfare of the people is evident in his consistent advocacy for development initiatives within the district. He understands the unique challenges faced by our communities and possesses the experience and political will to address them effectively.
Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe stands head and shoulders above other aspirants for several compelling reasons, some of which are enumerated below:
