Double Membership Allegation Against Wadada Baseless — Atajiri
By Yahaya Idris, Lafia
An All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholder in Nasarawa State, Prince Hon. Abdullahi Atajiri, has dismissed allegations of dual party membership against Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, describing the claims as a fabrication by political opponents.
Atajiri, who serves as Coordinator for the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s camp and holds the traditional title of Baraden Keffi, made the remarks during a telephone interview on Saturday.
He maintained that Senator Wadada remains a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the allegations were driven by “political desperation” and lack of relevance among opposition elements.
“The double-membership story is the height of frustration from those who are politically displaced,” he said.
Commenting on the 2027 governorship race, Atajiri stated that Governor Sule’s preference for Senator Wadada as his successor remains firm and cannot be altered, stressing that there was no justification for calls seeking the senator’s disqualification.
He explained that the decision to zone the governorship to Nasarawa West was the outcome of a deliberate process aimed at maintaining equity and balance among the state’s three senatorial districts.
According to him, Nasarawa West has not produced a governor in the last two decades, noting that Senator Abdullahi Adamu last held power from the zone, completing his tenure in 2007.
He further observed that the southern senatorial district governed the state for 12 consecutive years between 2007 and 2019, while Nasarawa North is currently rounding off its second term under Governor Sule.

“It is only fair and equitable that the west produces the next governor,” Atajiri said.
He added that party loyalists were aligned with the governor’s direction, describing it as the most viable path to victory for the APC in the 2027 general election.
“Everyone is at liberty to contest, but the governor’s direction is where we stand. Senator Wadada is the candidate to beat,” he stated.
Atajiri also downplayed the strength of opposition parties in the state, asserting that Senator Wadada enjoys overwhelming grassroots support.
“They know the level of support he commands. As for the opposition, I’m not even aware of their presence in Nasarawa State,” he added.
