2027: Maku, Abbo, Others Obtain Labour Party Nomination Forms
There was heightened activity at the Labour Party National Secretariat, Abuja on Wednesday as the race for the party’s tickets for the 2027 general elections gathered momentum.
According to a statement made available to journalists by Ken Eluma Asogwa, National Publicity Secretary May 13, 2026, Aspirants from across the country, cutting across the Northern and Southern regions, thronged the secretariat to obtain nomination forms for various elective positions.
Among the prominent aspirants were former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who picked the form for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District; Ishaku Abbo, who is seeking the governorship ticket in Adamawa State; Emmanuel Ben, for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State; Adamu Bako Blanzou, for the Akwanga North/Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency seat; Hon. Jesse James Ayenajeh, for the Toto/Nasarawa Federal Constituency in Nasarawa State; and Hon. Chidiebere Darlington Anyanwu, for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency in Imo State.
Speaking with journalists shortly after obtaining his nomination form, Maku commended the transparency of the process and expressed confidence in the Labour Party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
“The Labour Party has won the confidence and support of Nigerians, and I am convinced that the party will emerge victorious in the next general elections, from the presidency to the governorship and legislative contests,” he said.
He added that the party has become a household name in many states, particularly in Nasarawa, where he said supporters are determined to secure victory in the senatorial and other elections.
In the same vein, Abbo praised the growing popularity of the party and commended its National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, for what he described as efforts to reposition and revitalise the party.
He expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in Adamawa State and across the North-East region ahead of the 2027 polls.
The development signals increasing interest in the Labour Party as aspirants intensify preparations for the upcoming general elections.
