Kuraun Seeks Declaration as Winner of Benue APC Governorship Primary, Cites Sole Preparedness
By Yahaya Idris
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun, has called on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to declare him the winner of the APC governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, arguing that he was the only aspirant fully prepared for the exercise.
In a statement issued in Makurdi on Friday, Dr. Kuraun maintained that available facts and evidence showed he was the only aspirant who complied with all necessary preparatory requirements for the conduct of the primary election.
According to him, his level of preparedness and adherence to party guidelines positioned him as the rightful winner of the exercise.
Dr. Kuraun stated that he was the only aspirant who submitted a comprehensive list of both Local Government and Ward Agents to the Governorship Election Committee, noting that the submission was duly acknowledged at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi.
He further alleged that no other cleared aspirant, including the incumbent governor, submitted the required list of agents to the committee as stipulated for the conduct of the election.
The APC aspirant also disclosed that he was the only contestant whose agents were fully mobilized and present across wards and local government areas in readiness for the primary election.
He, however, expressed concern that election materials were not deployed to the field despite claims that the materials had earlier been verified at the APC State Secretariat by his representative, Dr. Samuel Tondo, in the presence of the governor’s representative.
Kuraun said he was ready to provide pictorial and video evidence to substantiate his claims and demonstrate the extent of preparation undertaken by his team ahead of the scheduled exercise.
“In view of the foregoing, I respectfully urge the National Working Committee of our great party to declare me the valid winner of the APC governorship primary election in Benue State, having been the only aspirant demonstrably prepared for the exercise in accordance with the party’s processes and requirements,” he said.
As an alternative, Dr. Kuraun called on the party to conduct a fresh primary election under an independent committee to be constituted and directly supervised by the APC National Working Committee to ensure transparency and credibility in the process.

REPORT ON THE APC BENUE STATE GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, 21ST MAY 2026
I, Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun, wish to formally state that I was the only governorship aspirant who was fully prepared for the APC Governorship Primary Election scheduled by our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to take place on Thursday, 21st May 2026, in Benue State.
Based on the available facts and evidence, I respectfully submit that I should therefore be declared the winner of the primary election, having been the only aspirant who complied with and fulfilled the necessary preparatory requirements for the conduct of the exercise.
This position is supported by the following facts:
1. Submission of Agents’ Lists
I was the only aspirant who submitted the comprehensive list of both Local Government and Ward Agents to the Governorship Election Committee. The submission was duly acknowledged by the Committee at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi.
No other cleared aspirant, including the incumbent Governor, submitted any list of agents to the Committee as required for the conduct of the election.
2. Presence and Verification of Agents in the Field
I was equally the only aspirant whose agents were fully mobilized and present in the field across the wards and local governments, prepared for the conduct of the election.
Unfortunately, election materials were not supplied to the field, despite the fact that the materials were already verified at the APC State Secretariat by my representative, Dr. Samuel Tondo, in the presence of the representative of the Governor.
I am willing and prepared to provide pictorial and video evidence to substantiate these claims and demonstrate the level of preparation and compliance undertaken by my team ahead of the scheduled primary election.
In view of the foregoing, I respectfully urge the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party to declare me the valid winner of the APC Governorship Primary Election in Benue State, having been the only aspirant demonstrably prepared for the exercise in accordance with the party’s processes and requirements.
Alternatively, the party may wish to conduct a fresh primary election to ascertain the true mandate of the people under an independent committee to be constituted and supervised directly by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.
Signed:
Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun
APC Governorship Aspirant
Benue State
