2027: Delta Central APC Poised to Deliver Tinubu, Oborevwori

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District has every reason to approach the 2027 general elections with confidence. The recent stakeholders’ strategic meeting in Effurun was more than a routine gathering of party faithful; it was a clear demonstration that the party has consolidated its structures, strengthened internal cohesion and is positioning itself to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The impressive gathering of party leaders, elected officials, founding members, women and youth leaders, local government chairmen and grassroots mobilisers showed that Delta Central APC has evolved into a formidable political family united by a common purpose. At a time when many political parties contend with post-primary divisions, the APC in Delta Central is projecting a different picture—one of unity, reconciliation, strategic coordination and collective resolve.
The unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and all other APC candidates was more than a symbolic exercise. It reflected the confidence of stakeholders in the leadership at the national and state levels and reaffirmed the district’s determination to play a leading role in the APC’s electoral success in Delta State.

The defining moment of the gathering came when the motion for the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and all APC candidates in Delta Central was moved by one of the founding leaders of the APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor. The motion, which carried the weight of experience, loyalty and party history, was seconded by former representative of Ethiope Federal Constituency, Chief (Barr.) Halims Agoda.
With party leaders and stakeholders watching with keen attention, the motion was subjected to a voice vote by the Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyinka. The response from the gathering was unanimous and emphatic, symbolising a collective declaration of loyalty, unity and readiness to work together towards victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
One of the defining features of the meeting was the emphasis on unity. Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, made it clear that the period of internal contests had ended and that all members must now focus on the larger task of securing victory for the party. His call for reconciliation and forgiveness resonated across the gathering, reinforcing the understanding that successful political organisations place collective interest above individual ambition.
The presence and remarks of the Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyinka, further underscored the significance of the gathering. He explained that the stakeholders’ meetings across the three senatorial districts were part of a deliberate strategy by the State Working Committee to strengthen party structures, deepen consultations and prepare the APC for the 2027 elections.
Areyinka described the Delta Central meeting as evidence that the party’s strategy was yielding positive results, noting that the calibre of leaders and stakeholders in attendance reflected a high level of unity. He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for building bridges across the party, reconciling members and strengthening APC structures throughout the state, expressing confidence that the unity demonstrated in Delta Central would translate into electoral success.
The meeting also highlighted Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s influence as the leader of the APC in Delta State. Since assuming that role, he has continued to promote inclusiveness, strengthen party structures and encourage harmony among stakeholders. His commitment to consultation, consensus-building and reconciliation has contributed to the emergence of a broader and more cohesive APC platform in the state.
There is another important political reality behind Delta Central APC’s confidence. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is not only the leader of the APC in Delta State but also an illustrious son of Urhobo Nation in Delta Central Senatorial District. Under the state’s established governorship rotation arrangement, Delta Central is expected to complete its eight-year tenure through Governor Oborevwori’s re-election in 2027 before power shifts to Delta South Senatorial District in 2031. This political understanding further strengthens the district’s resolve to mobilise support for the Governor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates.
That political reality is reinforced by the administration’s performance. Governor Oborevwori’s focus on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, peace and security provides the APC with a governance record it believes will resonate with the electorate as the 2027 elections approach.
Similarly, confidence remains high in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. While acknowledging that far-reaching economic reforms require patience and resilience, stakeholders expressed optimism that the administration’s policies are beginning to produce measurable outcomes through increased government revenue, infrastructure investment, job creation initiatives and efforts aimed at reducing poverty. This conviction forms a major part of the APC’s message as it prepares for the next general elections.
That position was reinforced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, who urged party members to remain committed to taking the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots. According to him, “Politics is driven by organisation, planning and constant engagement with the electorate,” adding that the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration are already producing positive results through increased government revenue and greater investments in infrastructure, job creation and poverty reduction. His remarks underscored the APC’s belief that its national performance record will be an important factor in the 2027 elections.
Perhaps the greatest strength displayed at the stakeholders’ meeting was the party’s grassroots network. Leaders from the three federal constituencies pledged to mobilise their political structures in support of all APC candidates. Local government party leaders also committed themselves to sustained mobilisation, reconciliation and stronger engagement with communities across the district.
The commitment of Delta Central APC’s federal constituency leaders further reinforced the district’s readiness for the 2027 elections. Speaking on behalf of their respective constituencies, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata of Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, Senator Ighoyota Amori of Ethiope Federal Constituency and Chief John Oguma of Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency pledged their collective support and assured the party of their determination to mobilise their structures for the success of all APC candidates.
Their declarations reflected a shared commitment across the three federal constituencies that make up Delta Central. By aligning their experience, structures and grassroots networks behind the party’s candidates, the leaders demonstrated that APC’s strength in the district is anchored on coordination, unity and broad-based mobilisation.
Speaking on behalf of Delta Central APC women, Hon. Stella Okotete, Executive Director, Business Development at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM Bank), assured stakeholders that women leaders and members of the party remained fully committed to delivering victory for the APC in 2027. She expressed confidence in the strength of the party’s structures across the district and pledged the active participation of Delta Central women in mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all APC candidates.
Okotete also emphasised the importance of greater inclusion, empowerment and opportunities for women and youths, describing them as indispensable partners in grassroots mobilisation and electoral success. Her remarks reflected the readiness of Delta Central APC women to play a decisive role in translating the party’s unity and organisational strength into votes at the polls.
The success of the Delta Central APC stakeholders’ meeting also reflected the effectiveness of the party’s organisational machinery and the behind-the-scenes coordination that made the event possible. Particular commendation goes to Chief Sunday Onoriode, the State Director of Protocol and an APC leader and strategist in Delta Central, whose invaluable contributions, planning and organisational capacity played a significant role in the seamless execution of the gathering.
Onoriode, regarded as one of the emerging leading lights of the APC in Delta State, has continued to demonstrate commitment, loyalty and strategic capacity as a trusted aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. His ability to coordinate, mobilise and support initiatives that strengthen party cohesion further underscores his growing influence within the APC and his value as a dependable member of the Governor’s political team.
Politics is ultimately about organisation, leadership and public confidence. Delta Central APC appears to have made significant progress on all three fronts. The successful conduct of its congresses and primaries, reconciliation of interests, consolidation of grassroots structures and alignment of stakeholders behind a common vision have created a strong foundation for the 2027 elections.
If the spirit of unity demonstrated in Effurun is sustained, Delta Central is positioned to remain a major political force in Delta State and a significant contributor to the APC’s success. The district has shown that it possesses the leadership, structures and commitment required to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The message from Delta Central is clear: the APC is united, focused and strategically prepared. With its leadership aligned, grassroots structures strengthened and stakeholders committed to a common goal, the district is poised to play a decisive role in the party’s march towards victory in 2027.
