Famous Star Institute Begins Students’ Week, Reinforces Commitment to Skills-Based Education

The Famous Star Institute of Management and Technology has commenced its annual Students’ Week, reaffirming its commitment to equipping young Nigerians with practical, vocational and technical skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive economy.
The week-long event, which began on Monday with an orientation and lecture session, features a rich lineup of activities including football competitions, cultural displays, drama presentations, seminars and educational lectures. The celebration will culminate on Saturday with a grand finale showcasing students’ talents and achievements.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of the institution, Dr. M. C. Rabo, described Famous Star Institute as a unique educational establishment inspired by God and dedicated to transforming lives through quality education and practical skills acquisition.
“Famous Star is a unique school and institution in the country, and the inspiration of the school is from God Himself,” he said.
Dr. Rabo emphasized that the institution places greater priority on vocational and technical education, noting that Nigeria’s growing unemployment challenge requires an education system that combines academic excellence with practical skills.
He observed that while conventional academic education remains important, skills development has become indispensable for youths seeking to remain productive and economically independent.
“Our focus is on vocational and technical education because what we lack in Nigeria is this. Here, students are exposed to practical learning that prepares them for the realities of today’s economy. Every youth should possess at least one valuable skill,” he stated.
The Director disclosed that Famous Star Institute was established with a vision to provide accessible quality education for internally displaced persons (IDPs), widows, orphans and other vulnerable members of society.
According to him, the institution has successfully graduated more than three sets of students since its inception, many of whom have gone on to build successful careers through the skills acquired at the school.
Dr. Rabo further revealed that the institution is fully registered with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and other relevant educational regulatory agencies.
He added that the institute is working towards affiliation with Cisto Academy, an international educational institution that would enable Famous Star Institute to award globally recognized certificates.
“Soon enough, we will complete our affiliation with Cisto Academy, allowing us to issue internationally recognized certificates to students both within and outside Nigeria,” he said.
He urged parents and prospective students to take advantage of the institution’s academic and vocational programmes designed to prepare graduates for self-reliance and global opportunities.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the institution, Comrade Imaji Gabriel Ahmed, said the annual Students’ Week serves as a platform to promote unity, leadership and practical learning among students.
He explained that the programme brings together experienced guest speakers from across Nigeria to inspire students through lectures and seminars that address both academic and life skills.
“We organize this programme every year to expose our students to knowledge beyond the classroom. It also provides an opportunity for cultural interaction and personal development,” Ahmed said.
He stressed that every graduate of Famous Star Institute leaves the institution with at least one practical skill alongside academic qualifications.
“It is not enough to obtain certificates alone. Our goal is to ensure every student acquires practical skills that will make them valuable to society and financially independent,” he added.
Ahmed encouraged students to actively participate in the various lectures and activities, urging them to apply the knowledge gained to their academic pursuits and future careers.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Arch. Emmanuel Ombugadu, also reaffirmed the institution’s determination to produce graduates equipped with both academic knowledge and employable skills capable of addressing societal challenges.
The opening ceremony featured lectures delivered by Dr. Richard Abu, Dr. Isaac, and other distinguished guest speakers, who encouraged students to embrace discipline, integrity, hard work and continuous learning as essential ingredients for success.
Students who attended the event commended the institution’s management and invited speakers for organizing what they described as an enlightening and impactful programme. They pledged to apply the lessons learned to their academic journey and personal development.

One of the highlights of the opening day was a thought-provoking drama presentation by students emphasizing the importance of diligence in academics. The performance condemned examination malpractice, reliance on charms and other unethical practices, while promoting honesty, perseverance and dedication to excellence.
The annual Students’ Week further underscores Famous Star Institute’s growing reputation as a leading institution committed to producing graduates who combine academic competence with practical skills for national development.
