….Kogi Government Urges Focus on Development, Says 2027 Politics Should Not Distract Ododo
By Yahaya Idris, Lokoja
The Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Youth and Student Matters, Oladele John Nihi, has described discussions surrounding the 2027 Kogi State governorship election as premature, insisting that the immediate priority of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is governance and ensuring the success of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
Nihi stated this while reacting to growing political speculations across Kogi State, stressing that every qualified citizen has the constitutional right to contest for the governorship when the appropriate time arrives.
According to him, Nigeria’s democratic system guarantees eligible citizens the freedom to seek elective offices, including the governorship, noting that no aspirant should be discouraged from pursuing legitimate political ambitions.
“Anybody who is qualified and wants to run for Governor of Kogi State is welcome. Democracy guarantees every eligible citizen the right to aspire to public office. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it,” Nihi said.
He maintained that while political aspirations are legitimate, the state should remain focused on governance rather than engaging in early electioneering activities.
Nihi explained that Governor Ododo’s administration is concentrating on delivering democratic dividends to Kogi residents through impactful governance rather than participating in premature political campaigns.
He said the governor’s political objective at this stage is to mobilise massive support for President Tinubu and ensure the APC records overwhelming victories across Kogi State in future elections.
“Our focus today is not the governorship race. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is concentrating on consolidating the gains of his administration while working tirelessly to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates 100 percent in Kogi State. That is where our energy and commitment are directed.”
The governor’s aide urged members of the APC, political stakeholders and supporters across the state to remain united and avoid actions capable of distracting the administration from its developmental agenda.
He noted that sustained unity within the ruling party would strengthen governance and improve service delivery to the people.

Nihi assured Kogi residents that the Ododo administration remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises through investments in key sectors of the economy.
According to him, the government will continue to prioritise infrastructure development, youth empowerment, security, agriculture, education, healthcare and other people-oriented programmes aimed at improving the quality of life across the state.
He added that the administration remains focused on delivering tangible results while leaving discussions about the 2027 governorship contest until the appropriate political season.
