The Vice-Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, has credited interventions by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, with contributing significantly to the rapid development of the young institution.
The Vice-Chancellor spoke on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during a meeting with Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North-Central Zone.
Salawu said the Fund’s interventions had supported the university’s infrastructure and academic development from its earliest days.
He recalled that when CUSTECH was established in 2021 and had not yet commenced academic activities with students, TETFund released intervention support for three faculty buildings and a 500-seater lecture theatre.
He said the early intervention provided critical support to the Kogi State Government’s efforts to establish the university.
“Since then, CUSTECH has continued to benefit from one TETFund intervention or another,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He added that the interventions had contributed immensely to the university’s rapid growth.
Salawu appealed for further support, particularly for the full solar powering of the College of Basic Medical Sciences.
He also requested TETFund’s assistance towards completing the Central Engineering Workshop.
Responding, Ocholi praised the university for the progress it had made within a relatively short period.
He said his visit was partly intended to assess projects funded by TETFund and identify areas where further intervention may be required.
The TETFund representative expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and academic progress recorded at CUSTECH.
He assured the university’s management that the requests presented would receive appropriate consideration.
Ocholi further said the Federal Government remained committed to improving the education sector.
He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the visit, Salawu led the TETFund delegation on an inspection of the TETFund-sponsored Anatomy Building.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the facility contributed to strengthening the university’s capacity during its medical and dental accreditation exercise.
The visit provided an opportunity for TETFund officials and CUSTECH management to assess existing projects and discuss additional infrastructure requirements.
