Former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Alhaji Musa Mubarak Saliu, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Mubarak also said he would soon unveil his preferred candidates for the Senate and Idah Federal Constituency, while calling for fairness, unity and power rotation among Kogi State’s three senatorial districts.
In a statement shared on social media, the former NNPP governorship candidate said Kogi East, Kogi Central and Kogi West were equally important to the development of the state.
He urged politicians and citizens to embrace political tolerance and work toward ensuring that the interests of the three districts were adequately considered.
According to him, political differences should not prevent stakeholders from working together for the overall interest of Kogi State.
Mubarak said his support for candidates in the 2027 elections would be determined by their competence, character, track record and capacity to deliver, irrespective of their political parties.
He specifically disclosed that his preferred candidates for the Senate and Idah Federal Constituency would soon be made public.
However, on the presidential election, Mubarak said his position was already clear.
“When it comes to the presidency, my position is clear: I am 100% behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Mubarak, who contested the 2023 Kogi State governorship election on the platform of the NNPP, has remained active in the state’s political space.
The businessman and entrepreneur also called on political actors to avoid treating opponents unfairly, stressing that political power was not permanent.
He reminded Kogi politicians and citizens that “power is rotational”, urging stakeholders to respect the political aspirations and rights of people across the state.
His latest position comes amid growing political calculations ahead of the 2027 elections, with attention increasingly focused on representation, zoning and power-sharing among Kogi East, Central and West.
