Senator Funds Rehabilitation of Critical River Crossing in Yagba East as Work Progresses on Site
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, has provided funding for the reconstruction of the collapsed Ilafin–Isanlu Bridge and culvert across the Iyeju River in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The intervention comes after the collapse of the bridge, a vital transport link connecting Ilafin and Isanlu communities, left motorists and residents facing serious safety risks, movement difficulties and disruptions to economic activities.

Concerned about the hardship caused by the damaged infrastructure, Senator Karimi released funds for its reconstruction, including the construction of retaining walls and drainage facilities aimed at strengthening the structure and reducing the risk of future damage.
Construction work is currently ongoing at the site, with the reconstruction expected to improve road safety, facilitate movement and restore a critical connection between the benefiting communities.
Residents have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely in view of the difficulties associated with the collapsed bridge. They expressed optimism that the project would be completed to the required standard and provide a durable solution to the transportation challenges in the area.
Beyond restoring access between Ilafin and Isanlu, the project is expected to support commercial activities, ease the movement of people and goods, and improve connectivity within Yagba East and surrounding communities.
Meanwhile, other interventions are reportedly ongoing across Kogi West Senatorial District as Senator Karimi continues to pursue projects aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps and improving the welfare of constituents.
The reconstruction of the Ilafin–Isanlu Bridge adds to the infrastructure interventions being undertaken in the district, with residents looking forward to the timely completion of the project and the restoration of safer passage across the Iyeju River.
