Abia women pass a vote of confidence in Buhari, Ogah over development, urges Minister to join Gubernatorial race.

A socio-cultural women group, drawn from the seventeen Local government areas of Abia State, under the auspices of Abia Women For Good Governance (AWGG), and World Igbo Women for Equality (WIWE), Abia Chapter, have passed a vote of confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah

for redefining governance in Nigeria through policy formulations and implementations that have fostered unprecedented improvement in the economic and Infrastructural development in all facets of the country.

The organizations attested that President Buhari has raised the bar for youths, men and women empowerment and development through his administration’s Social Investments Programmes in the country where millions of Nigerian citizenry have sufficiently been engaged to becoming self-reliant, dependent and employers of labour.

The Abia women groups also attested that the current federal government led by the President has recorded strides in rewriting the Infrastructural deficits in the southeast geopolitical zone, and further pointed out the reconstruction of the federal road in the southeast and that of the roads connecting the southeast to northern and western, and as well as reconstruction and dredging of the second Niger which past successive administrations were unable to fix.

The groups made their positions known in a communique made available to newsmen in Aba, at the end of her enlarged meeting held at Aba Sports Club.

It was jointly signed by the chairpersons of AWGG and WIWE Abia chapter, Lady Catherine Nwarukwu and Mrs Comfort Ibeleme respectively.

However, the women groups further stated, “we are aware of the reconstructed Umuahia-Okigwe-Enugu express road, the Ebonyi-Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Onuaku Uturu-Ebonyi road and too numerous to mention for want of time. We applaud him for the recent approval for the reconstruction of Umuahia/Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene road and the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt road during one of the meetings of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided by President Buhari.

“History will forever be kind to the President, one of the finest of leaders Nigeria has ever had since independence. The President has replicated leadership styles of the Late M. I Okpara of the blessed memory of the Eastern Region that is worthy of emulation.

Continuing, the Abia women organizations, also expressed their immense and profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the worthy appointment of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, as Honorable Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, describing the Abia-born minister as “father of modern Abia and beckon of hope for generational Abians.

The groups applauded Ogah for the effective representation of Abia and the entire southeast in the Federal Executive Council and also noted that the outstanding gains solidly recorded by the Minister of State for Mines now and before sojourn into Nigeria politics is incomparable and historical in the history of Abia and the nation at large, recalled the industrialization of the state and beyond with his private business conglomerates before ascension into political office.

The Abia Womenfolk further used the fora to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to their aid and prevail on Dr Ogah to join the Abia governorship race ahead of the 2023 general elections, as the populaces in God’s State are yearning for him to bring his vast leadership acumen to entrench true and people’s-oriented governance for the good of Abia State.

The groups also posited that the Minister has raised the bar in the present federal government’s diversification of the nation’s economy through natural and mineral resources which undoubtedly have boosted the revenue base used in developing other critical facets of Nigeria’s economy.

The Southeast women groups also commended Uche Ogah for the political stability and harmony existing in Abia state, as well as his immense support to the present government in Abia state irrespective of political affiliations.

According to the groups, “Some had wished he used his proximity to the President as a Minister of the Federal Republic to invoke political crises in his home state or be at war with Gov. Ikpeazu for political expediency but Uche Ogah wouldn’t do any of such rather, as a true son of Abia, irrespective of political interest or affiliation, he has supported all requests and grants of Abia State at the Federal Executive Council. He has equally represented the Commander-in-Chief in many functions organized by Abia State Government.

“He understands when it’s time for governance and when it’s appropriate for political gimmicks and campaign, therefore, after the 2019 governorship election which he contested and came second, as a true democrat, he congratulated the winner, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and wished him well”.

The Abia Women For Good Governance and World Igbo Women for Equality also applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the giant strides recorded in the area of Infrastructure especially, the ongoing establishment of the Enyimba Economic City project which has already turned the state into a new destination for local and foreign business investments.

The Indigenous women organizations, however, concluded that it would embark on massive mobilization and Sensitization of eligible women, men and youths for them to visit respective INEC centres for registration and revalidation of their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to enable them to exercise their civil rights in electing credible and worthy candidates in 2023 general elections.
