The present leadership under Buni led Party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has been described as monumental failure and disgrace parading as a party.

Youths of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of The Progressive Youth Movement, have said they had sacked the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), led by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, for alleged failure, among others.

They announced the dissolution at the weekend, after their Northwest town hall meeting in Kaduna.

But the CECPC Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, dismissed the allegations, saying the youths lacked the power to sack the party’s “winning team”.

The youths, rising from a meeting with the theme: Ready to Lead, Now or Never, alleged that the CECPC had not only failed to organise a national convention, after almost two years of its appointment, but had allegedly allowed the party to be hijacked by those they called criminals.

One of the conveners of the meeting and a former APC governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Prince Mustapha Audu, said the youths will constitute a new CECPC next week, which will hold an acceptable convention for the party in February 2022.

Responding yesterday in Abuja in a telephone interview Akpanudoedehe said: “…Anybody has the right to say their mind. But to say they have sacked the caretaker committee, they went too far. They don’t have such powers. You can only sack a losing team. You can’t sack a winning team, like this caretaker committee.

“Our youths are more productive, more intelligent, and resourceful. Why are they not being engaged? Why are they using them to do the bidding of some people? All these are about the presidential ambition of some politicians,” he said.
