Bello Rates Ex Gov Idris the best among past Kogi Governors.

Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has eulogised his predecessor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris who governed the state for nine years as the best among those that governed the state in the past.

Governor Bello was represented by his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Abdulsalam Deedat Ozigi, on Saturday, at the official commissioning of the Ayingba central mosque built by the former Governor Ibrahim Idris.

He said the present administration is also committed to construction and rehabilitation of worship centres of the two prominent religions across the state, in view of their significance in the maintenance of peace unity and stability among the entire people of the state .

The 1800 worshippers capacity on a 1.3 hectares of land the mosque facilitated by the former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, was commissioned by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Saad Abubakar 111.

While commissioning the edifice, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Saad Abubakar 111, commended the inter religious harmony and tolerance among the people of Kogi state.

Sultan Abubakar 111 urged philanthropist and other donor groups, organisations and kindhearted individuals to see building of mosques as service to Almighty Allah and catalyst to character moulding of future generations.

His Eminence, who is also the president General of the National Council for Islamic Affairs (NCIA) described the presence of the Christian Clerics at the occasion as unprecedented, pointing out that such harmonious co existence between Christians and Muslims will breed peace in the country and should be emulated by all Nigerians.

The facilitator of the mosque, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, said his aim of building mosques across the country was to show gratitude to God, Who has been good and kind to him all through his life.

He disclosed that he has equally built Churches and Mosques in Igala land even before he became governor of the state.

He thanked God for the protection and deliverance from calamities that almost ruined him and his family in air and land crashes, and also for the successes he attained in politics and business.

The Commissioning ceremony was graced by both Muslims and Christian leaders and their adherents, such as Reverend Father Anthony Adoji ,the Bishop of Idah Diocese,who led the clergy from the various denominations, Ambassador Usman Bello, Kogi state Chairman of Jamatu Nasril Islam and Council of Ulamau.

Prominent traditional rulers and top government officials as well as political leaders from their various religious persuasions were not left out.
