Bingham University Matriculates 1500 students spread across 16 Faculties, as VC bans students from using smartphones.

The Vice Chancellor, Bingham University Karu, professor Barnabas Qurix, says over the past five years of his reign, the University has maintained standard of impacting sound knowledge to students.

He stated this during the 19th matriculation ceremony of 2023/2024 academic session of the university, held at the chapel auditorium, Wednesday.

Addressing the matriculating students, the Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Karu, professor Williams Barnabas Qurix, said the purpose of the matriculation was to formerly received the students into the different programmes spread across the sixteen faculties of the university, charging the students to obey rules and regulations of the institution to enable them succeed.

In the area of collaboration and partnership, professor Barnabas disclosed that under his stewardship as Vice Chancellor, the university has partnered and signed the Memorandum of understanding with some foreign institutions in a bid to become a world class University in knowledge and skills thereby elevated the university’s prominence.

As Faith based University, the vice Chancellor emphasized that the University is committed to zero tolerance policy against social vices, including cultism, sexual misconduct, drug abuse, bullying as well as re-emphazing on the banned on the use of smart phone by the students, charging the students to adhere strictly to the rules to avoid been punished.

The guest speaker at the event, professor Rhoda Mundi, from the University of Abuja, stressed the need for the students to identify their knowledge to enable them perform excellently in their academic pusuit, this according to her, will not be achieved without the support and guidance of the parents, calling on the parents to do the needful.

Administering the matriculation oath to one thousand five hundred students, the registrar of the university, Mrs. Esther Dyaji, enjoined the students to be committed to their studies and avoid acts capable of tarnishing their image and that of the university.
