CP Egbuka takes charge of Kogi Police command, warns Officers on extortion, corruption.

New Commissioner of Police for Kogi state, CP Edward Chuka Egbuka has warmed Officers and Men under his command to desist from extortion and corrupt practices or face severe disciplinary measures if caught.

He also promised to use his over thirty years of experience in the Police to fight crimes and criminality in the State.

The new Commissioner gave the warning while addressing Officers and other tanks of the command on assumption off office at the state Police headquarters on Friday.

He called on the citizens of the State to avail the police with information to enable it to carry out its mandate, disclosing that the police has several channels of receiving information as well as protecting the informants.

CP Egbuka promised to key into the mission and vision of the Inspector General of Police to attract and build the trust of the people of the State, and synergize with all other security and paramilitary agencies.

He assured all critical stakeholders of cooperation of the Command towards making the state safe and secure, as the renewed fight against crimes and criminality in Kogi State has commenced

He called on the media to promote stories that will help the police do better in the discharge of its duty and, warned against sensational reporting that will promote and encourage crimes.

While he warned against self-help by members of the public especially during crime prevention or arrest of suspects, the Police Boss, also cautioned police officers on extortion, said it will be unfair to extort members of the public who the Police is expected to protect.

He cautioned men of the police in the State against infringing on the rights of citizens, even though he will not tolerate the infringement of the rights of Policemen in carrying out their duty, assuring that the Police Command will not rest on its oars in making the State crime-free.
