Kogi APC Guber candidate committed to sports development – Engr. Bashir Gegu

As part of effort to enhance sporting activities as well to reduce high rate of crimes in the State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate for the November election, has pledged to give it a priority.

Alhaji Ododo made the disclosure at the grand finale of the Ododo 8 Aside football victory competition held at the GYB Model Science Secondary School Adankolo community Lokoja.

Alhaji Ododo was ably represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Abubakar Mohammed Bashir Gegu who also congratulated the champions and encourage those who do not make it to the final to take it as the will of God.

While presenting the cup to Newlayout FC, winners of the tournament, says his passion and blueprint for sports knows no bound.

The runner up for the competition was Oikwo FC while the FMC FC finished as the second runner up in a tournament that featured seventeen football teams.

The Commissioner who represented Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo described sports as a money spinner, assured that his administration if elected will turnaround sports in the State.

Engr. Bashir Gegu thanked the organizers of the tournament, promising that aside the deliberate efforts to improve on sporting infrastructure if elected, sportsmen and women will enjoy scholarships amongst other incentives.

The final match played between Newlayout FC and Oikwo FC ended 4-2 in favour of the winners of the tournament.
