NSCDC arrests electricity cables vandal in Kogi.

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi state command, has paraded a 30-year-old man, Yomi Sunday, alleged to have vandalized armor cable in Mopa Muro local Government area of the state.

Parading the suspect at the command’s headquarters on Tuesday in Lokoja, NSCDC, Commandant, Ahmad Ahmad Gandi said the suspect was arrested by the vigilante group and handed him over to the Corps.

Gandi said the activities of electricity vandals has cut off seven communities in Kogi West including Aiyeteju – Mopa, Amuro, Agbajogun – Lodo, and others from the national grid.

The suspect was paraded along with eight wrapped bundles of the cables and instruments used to cut and peel the electric cable .

According to the suspect, an in named business man who regularly visit the area, especially on Sundays lured him into the crime business by one unnamed businessman with a promise to pay him handsome returns for the products.

He disclosed that the prospective buyer told him that he uses the cable to produce earrings, bangles, and other ornaments, claiming that it was his first outing when was caught.

The commandant while warning criminals to desist from their nefarious activities, said the corps is sufficiently prepared to stamp out crimes and criminality across the state.
