Sec. Gen. Koba, Sam Isreal urges Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship as only way to escape bad economic situation

The need for Nigerians to engage in entrepreneurship as a way to escape the harsh economic situation in Nigeria has been advocated.

The Secretary General, Keffi Old Boys Association KOBA, Sam Israel made the call in a paper he presented at the KOBA set 83′ convention held at the Steffans hotel, Rayfield, Jos, the Plateau State capital.

According to Israel, the current financial crisis in Nigeria and the world as a whole can be over come if citizens create employment for themselves and the teaming youths instead of waiting on Government to do everything.

According to him, Nigerians should stop criticizing the government and engage in self development especially that the population is on the increase without commensurate opportunity to engage the youths.

Speaking on the topic ‘preparing for retirement’, he said while in advanced Nations people look forward to early retirement because of the well planned packages, the opposite is the case in Africa where even pension managers corruptly divert such funds to their families and friends.

In a speech, KOBA President General, Engr. Edward Ujege speaking through the association’s National Treasurer, Sir Clement Yilkopba applauded set 83 for their outstanding contributions to their alma’mater and called on other sets to emulate them

Earlier, the Chairman, KOBA set 83, Professor Maikano Ari said the discipline  and character molding acquired in Government College Keffi during their five years studentship has continued to be their driving force that has kept them together over forty years.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of awards to KOBA President General, Engr. Edward Ujege and the National Secretary General, Sam Israel for their committed leadership that has not only brought development to Government College Keffi but has galvanized members to work together as a family.

Other awardees are the Barrister Robert Taple, Major General, Ninyel and Brigadier General Alwali Kazeel among many others.
