Tawari Attack: Kogi Deputy Governor Commends NEMA, SEMA For Providing Succour To IDPs, Flag off Reliefs Materials

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief David Edward Onoja, has commended the National and Kogi state Emergency Management Agencies for their prompt response to the the plight of the victims of the unfortunate attack on the people of Tawari in Kogi local government area of the state.

Addressing the victims of the attacks and displaced persons, Chief Onoja reassured them that the state government will continue to be with the people of Tawari community, promising that those bandits who launched the attacked will be fished out and dealt with decisively.

He therefore thanked the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA for their prompt response with the provisions of food and other necessities being distributed to the affected people of the area, describing the action as highly commendable.

Chief Onoja explained that his presence in Tawari was to represent his principal and Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who has shown concern about welfare of his people and how to get the ransacked community back to life.

He described the governor as a leader who has laid a solid foundation to checkmate all forms of criminality, pointing out that the present Administration has zero tolerance for crime in the state.

Onoja promised that the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration will not relent in its promise to compassate the affected communities.

The deputy governor, who commended Tawari people for the patience and tolerance, urged them to join hands with the government in consolidating ongoing strategies for security architecture in the State.

“Just yesterday we were in Lafia for north central security summit in collaboration with IG of police and 6 other States and FCT bordering Kogi fully in attendance for security purpose. We have a governor that will never joke with security of his people and in this area we all know that he is a top class manager.

“He has made giant strides, which now positions our state as most peaceful State. The governor is doing well and needs our support physically and our prayers spiritually”.

The head of NEMA appreciated the state government’s efforts and spelt out all the items brought by the FG which include, Bags of rice, bags of beans, 1000 pieces of mattresses, bags of gari, salt, zincs, cement, nails and other items.

Highpoint of the event was official flag off of food and non food items donated to Tawari community as means of Succour to alleviate their suffering.

The event brought together people within and outside Kogi State among whom are, Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Administrator of Kogi LG, State APC Vice Chairman, APC East Zonal Chairman, permanent member 1 Kogi State LG service commission, NEMA, SEMA both from State and outside the State.
