Tawari Attacks: Senator Adeyemi Meets NEMA, Seeks Immediate Assistance For Affected Communities

Kogi West Senator, Smart Adeyemi on Monday met with the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Engr. Mustapha Maihaja over the recent attack by militia on Tawari community in Kogi local government council of the state which over 20 persons were reportedly death with property worth millions of naira also destroyed.

The meeting which held at the head office of the agency in Abuja was at the instance of the senator who seeks immediate assistance for the affected communities.

Senator Adeyemi urged the agency to provide immediate aids to the people of Tawari Community in Kogi local government.

Adeyemi said the demand became necessary inview of the fact that the attack has affected both the economy and social life of the people, said helping the affected peoples will go a long way to support and sustain their lives.

According to Adeyemi, no amount of money or material donations can replaced the lost souls, but an assistance by the agency will go along way to rehabilitate and revamped the community.

Responding, the Director General, NEMA Engr. Mustapha Maihaja eulogized the proactive measures of the senator seeking relief for the people he represented.

The DG however promised to conduct a site assessment of the community so as to ascertain the kind of relief materials needed.

He further stated that on completing the assessment, deployment of relief materials to the community will take place immediately.
