…Charges committee members to begin search for qualify players across three Districts
The Executive chairman of Toto local government area of Nasarawa State, Honourable Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas is pleased to announce the establishment of a committee to oversee and promote sports activities in Toto LG most especially the upcoming Nasarawa Governor’s Cup.
According to the Chairman, the committee will focus on developing a sports policy, promoting grassroots sports, supporting, encouraging sports tourism, fostering partnerships, and ensuring safety and inclusivity in sports.
The committee comprises representatives from the government, sports organizations, education sector, and health professionals.
The terms of reference for the committee include: Developing a comprehensive sports policy, promoting participation in sports at all levels, supporting players and teams from Toto LG, fostering partnerships with stakeholders
and ensuring safety and inclusivity in sports.
The committee will meet regularly to discuss progress, address challenges, and make recommendations to the Chairman pending when the competition will kickoff.
A press statement issued by Senior Special Assistant, SSA, Media and Publicity, Yahaya Idris Toto, said the chairman’s positive step is aimed towards promoting sports activities in the area
The Council boss said that his action was to enable Toto contingents prepared ahead of the slated competition and that it would enable the area assemble more qualified players across the three districts of Toto LGA
Hon Aliyu Tashas pointed out that his administration has accorded utmost attention to sports and youths Development by creating a framework to guide youths and programs among others.
“Promoting grassroots sports encourage participation in sports at the local level, especially among youth.”
“Our administration is committed to supporting sports development, providing resources and funding for our contingents to compete both locally and nationally.”

The members of the committee Governor Cup competition 2024 include:
1. Hon. Bala Musa – Supervisory councilor for Social Service as Chairman
2. Hon. Yunusa Y. Y – Councilor as Member
3. Hon Shuaibu Ahmed – SSA Special Duties as Member
4. Mr. Haggai Iliya – Toto LGC Information Officer as Member
5. Hon. Mustafa Mohammed – Special Adviser on Youth as Member
6. Hon. Dangaladima Umaisha – SSA on Youth as Member

The chairman congratulated the constituted committee and charge them to bring together diverse stakeholders to promote sports development, enhance infrastructure, and encourage participation in upcoming sports activities in the State.
He said the committee will oversees the competition from beginning to the end and as well select players that will represent Toto LG.
