City Boy Movement in Kogi Rejects Illegal Programme, Affirms Support for Ododo, Tinubu

The Kogi State Executive Council of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has dissociated itself from a proposed programme allegedly initiated without due consultation, describing the move as a violation of the organisation’s established leadership structure.
In a statement duly signed and issued by the State Media and Publicity Secretary, Julius Ele-Ojo, the decision was reached at an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, attended by more than two-thirds of council members, where the leadership strongly criticised attempts by the North Central Zonal Director, Hajiya Ramatu Ibrahim, to organise an activity outside the framework of the state structure.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Council stressed that no official, regardless of rank, is permitted to operate outside designated jurisdictional boundaries.
It consequently distanced the Kogi chapter from the programme pending proper alignment with laid-down protocols.
The Council also commended the intervention of the national leadership of the Movement, led by Director-General, Hon. Oluwatosin Francis Shoga, which directed that the programme and any similar initiatives be discontinued under the CBM name until the formal inauguration of the Kogi State chapter and its full integration into the national structure.
According to the Council, the national leadership, during a meeting with stakeholders last Saturday, reiterated that adherence to the chain of command remains fundamental to the Movement’s operations, stressing that organisational legality must be guided strictly by due process rather than sentiment.
Reaffirming its commitment to empowerment and development, the Council noted that all initiatives must follow proper procedures, including formal inauguration and necessary national approvals. It warned that any programme carried out in the name of the Movement without clearance from the State Directorate would be considered invalid.
Meanwhile, the Council passed a vote of confidence in the State Director of the Movement, Hon. Ogah, praising his leadership style and commitment to unity within the organisation.
The Council also extended its endorsement to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, citing his efforts toward administrative order and development in the state.
Similarly, a vote of confidence was passed on the Patron of the Movement, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, for his strategic direction, as well as on the Grand Patron and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in recognition of ongoing reforms aimed at national development.
The Council emphasised that any programme with genuine intentions must align with established structures from the outset, urging the public to take note of its position.
