Betta Edu, born on October 27, 1986, in Cross River State, Nigeria, is a medical doctor and politician with a distinguished career. She has served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and previously held roles such as All Progressives Congress’s (APC) national women leader and Cross River State Commissioner for Health.

In her New Year’s address, Hon. Betta Edu stated that 2025 will be a transformative year for our nation, unlocking restoration and endless possibilities where potential, opportunity, and diligence intersect to yield shared prosperity.

She called upon Nigerians to view the new year as a rejuvenating new dawn that will bring their dreams and aspirations to fruition and restore and manifest “our renewed hopes”.

“As 2025 beckons, we are presented with a tabula rasa, a fresh chapter yearning to be inscribed. Our duty is to compose a testament to optimism and hope, founded on the unwavering belief that this fledgling year will usher forth a resplendent new era, transmuting our most cherished dreams and aspirations into palpable reality.”

“I am confident that 2025 will bring a complete restoration from the hardship and trials of 2024. It will be a year for the optimisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.”

Continuing, Dr Edu stated that 2025 holds substantial promise for our nation, where Nigerians will grasp their future, shifting from current economic challenges to a horizon of hope and unfolding prosperity.”

She urged Nigerians to remain resolute in their love for the nation and have confidence in the current administration’s capability to pull Nigeria out of its economic quagmire.

“ The President means well; good intention necessitates time to produce results. I have faith in the Nigeria project, I have consistently dedicated myself to Nigeria and Nigerians; nothing will alter that.”
