A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lafia local government area of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Tancy Al-Makura, has responded to criticisms by Musa Umar Aboki, outlining his contributions to community development and youth empowerment in Nasarawa State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Al-Makura said he was compelled to highlight some of his achievements following persistent criticism, despite his reluctance to “blow his own trumpet.”

He listed several interventions in infrastructure, including the provision of electricity transformers to communities such as Kasuwan Tomatoes Market and Ungwar Nungu along Kwandare Road.

The APC stalwart also disclosed that he facilitated the construction of multiple boreholes, including three within the Kasuwan Tomatoes axis, where he personally supported water supply using a generator and fuel.

He added that another borehole was provided in Kanfage, Ungwar Gayam, alongside the construction of several pit toilets in Kanfage to address sanitation challenges and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.

On employment and political appointments, Al-Makura claimed to have facilitated numerous opportunities for indigenes, including appointments for 16 commissioners, 12 special advisers, eight senior special assistants, over 15 special assistants, and more than 20 personal assistants.6

He also cited the emergence of several chairmen, overseers, transitional management committee members, councillors, and heads of government agencies as part of his efforts.

He further stated that he facilitated employment for many youths across various federal and state institutions.

According to him, over 30 individuals secured jobs at the Federal University of Lafia, more than 15 in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and over 15 in the Nigerian Correctional Service, including the late brother of his critic, Abubakar Umar Aboki.

Al-Makura added that over 50 teaching positions were secured for residents of Kanfage and Kasuwan Tomatoes communities, alongside more than 10 placements in the Nigeria Police Force and seven in the Nigeria Immigration Service.

He also cited job placements in agencies such as NASIENI, the Ministry of Lands, the Specialist Hospital, the Primary Education Board, and the Health Management Board.

In the area of education, he said he facilitated admission for over 100 students into higher institutions of learning.

Beyond employment, the APC chieftain noted that he had supported constituents with various forms of assistance, including the donation of vehicles, land, building materials, motorcycles, and cash, as well as sponsorships for religious pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem.

Reflecting on his tenure as Commissioner for Lands, Al-Makura said his efforts contributed to improved revenue generation for Nasarawa State.

He cited a notable increase in compensation from the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO), which he said rose from an initial N25 million to N596 million following his presentation and engagement with the review panel.

He maintained that his record of service demonstrates his commitment to development, adding that he remains confident in his contributions to public service and community advancement.
