Rush for Labour Party Nomination Forms Intensifies Ahead of 2027 Polls

The race for the Labour Party nomination forms for the 2027 general elections gathered further momentum on Wednesday, with more aspirants flooding the party’s National Secretariat to obtain forms for various elective positions.
In a press released signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, National Publicity Secretary, 7th May, 20263, said among those who secured nomination forms were Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is seeking to represent Imo East Senatorial District; Hassan Mamman Barguwa, contesting for the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency seat in Adamawa State; Dennis Chibuzor Oshai for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State; Eric Edward for Hong State Constituency in Adamawa State; and Mohammed Hayatu Atiku, vying for the Uba/Gaya State Constituency seat in Adamawa State.
Addressing journalists shortly after obtaining his nomination form, Barguwa, a former member of the House of Representatives, praised the party’s nomination process, describing it as smooth and well-organised.
He expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, noting that its influence continues to grow in Adamawa State and across the North-East region.
Party officials disclosed that, as of the time of filing this report, dozens of aspirants were still at the National Secretariat completing the process, underscoring the increasing interest in the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development signals a rising level of political activity within the Labour Party as preparations intensify for the forthcoming polls.
