Leaders of the Mada Nation have reaffirmed their commitment to peace, democracy, and community unity following an emergency stakeholders’ meeting held in Akwanga on May 27, 2026.

The National Executive Council of the Mada Development Association (MDA) Worldwide, alongside its Youth and Women Wings, convened at the Mada Sai Gir Secretariat along Lafia Road to review reports from communities across Nasarawa State in the aftermath of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.

In a communiqué unanimously adopted during the meeting and presented at a press conference by the National Chairman of the Association, Engr. James Bashayi, the group condemned acts of political thuggery, violence, and intimidation allegedly witnessed during the primaries.

The Association described the Mada people as peace-loving citizens who strongly believe in dialogue, fairness, justice, and the rule of law, stressing that the democratic process must not be undermined by violence or coercion.

“We remain committed to peace, development, unity, and the protection of the collective interest and dignity of the Mada Nation,” the communiqué stated.

The stakeholders resolved to firmly oppose all forms of electoral violence and pledged to continue safeguarding democratic values within Mada communities across the state.

The communiqué further called on political actors, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that future political activities are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, with the safety and well-being of citizens given top priority.

According to the Association, the Mada Nation will not tolerate any action capable of threatening the peace, harmony, and unity of its communities.

By bringing together its national leadership as well as youth and women representatives in a united response, the MDA said it was demonstrating a strong collective commitment to stability, civic responsibility, and democratic participation in Nasarawa State.

The Association expressed optimism that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, future elections in Mada-inhabited areas would reflect the values of democracy, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence for which the community is known.
